Sharmaine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a small town Louisiana girl who always had big city dreams! I moved to Houston with my three-month-old baby in 2015. I’ve always had a love for lashes, so I decided to start my lash line Mink Majesty Cosmetics with 1 lash called “SLAY DAYZ” and they kept selling out! As I started, I grow and add more styles which kept selling out and went to Ogle Beauty School to get fully licensed as an esthetician because I knew I wanted to do more in the Beauty Industry. From there, I became a licensed “Lash Technician” and began to perfect my craft at lashing & again added luxury lash extension trays for other lash techs. Once I mastered that I wanted MORE, lol, so I went to the well known Maggie, owner of “Mpressive Faces” of Houston to get licensed as a Micro-blading tech, then later furthered my education getting licensed with the well known Chara owner of D’Lux Artistry and both of these ladies inspired me to become a brow guru! Taking that leap here in Houston was one of THE BEST choices I’ve made. Never did I think I would come this far with no family here, let along having my business to grow as fast as it did! God has truly worked in my favor in many ways and Houston and surrounding areas have so much in store from Mink Majesty Artistry. We are located in the South Loop area at 2600 S. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Moving here with literally no family & being a single mom has been the BIGGEST battle and still till this day takes a toll on me but my family supports me from Louisiana and I ALWAYS try to keep the bigger picture in my head and that is creating more opportunity for my 4-year-old daughter and my family! Another I think that most small business owners struggle with is CONSISTENCY!! But that is a HUGE key to success is to keep pushing through with your vision!
Please tell us about Mink Majesty Artistry.
We specialize in luxury Mink Strips, custom lash extensions brow correcting which is micro shading most people call it Ombre brows. I think what sets us apart is that we actually have a passion for it and our main goal is to satisfy the client while also educating them on what may be best for them, and how to maintain the service they pay for.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There are so many but Here’s a few top lessons haha. So, while I was in school full time, I decided to get a suite… that was TOO soon for sure! It was crazy, I would drive from Stafford to Harwin Dr. to take clients and had to be back for school at a certain time. That was a horrible choice, lol. I most definitely would have been more patient in making that choice. Another is STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE! No matter how many people are in the same line of work, remember: “They are not YOU,” stay focused on your vision.

- Lash Extension service takes up to hrs prices vary $100-150 refills are normal at 2 weeks
- Ombre Brows last up to 8 to 12 months pricing is $300 with a 6-month touch up included
