Meet Shaun Savage of GoShare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Savage.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shaun. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The idea for GoShare came to me after several bad truck rental experiences. I found myself wishing there was a simpler solution.

As a fan of sharing economy companies, I wondered if you a similar business model and technology could be used to connect truck owners with individuals like myself, that needed a truck on demand. I pictured an app that allows individuals to connect and share resources (like trucks) in their local communities. Since that solution didn’t exist, I decided to make one.

At the time, I was 31 years old and working for a large media company. Walking away from that stable job to start a new company was a leap of faith. I sold my condo, burned through my savings, and downsized my lifestyle to fund the initial launch of the company. I can’t thank my patient and supportive wife enough for her support those first couple years!

The service launched in April 2015 in San Diego and New Jersey, and we’ve been growing rapidly ever since. We were thrilled to come to the Houston area in November of 2018. Our partnerships with local Costco warehouses and other retailers have already started creating high-earning project opportunities for local truck and van owners.

Has it been a smooth road?
If an entrepreneur tells you everything has been smooth sailing, they aren’t being truthful. Starting a new company is like riding a roller coaster!

As a start-up business getting our footing, you have to work through many hurdles from regulations and insurance to market challenges and competition. But, I like to take the attitude that every new mountain to climb gets us closer to the company goals. Not only does facing and conquering these challenges help the company grow, but it also helps me grow as an individual as well.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
GoShare’s web site and app connect individuals and businesses with a virtual fleet of truck and van owners.

GoShare has a network of independent contractors on our platform. Customers can use our website or mobile apps to order a Delivery Professional (or two) with a truck or van. Typically, the customer is matched with a local Delivery Pro in less than two minutes. Most projects are accepted in less than two minutes.

Customers often use our services for last mile delivery, furniture delivery, apartment moves, storage unit moves, recycling and hauling, pallet moves, and anything else that needs a truck and strong arms!

GoShare stands out from other companies with how easy the app is to use. The customer picks the time and place, and we work around their schedule. No more waiting days for delivery, or being stuck at home for multi-hour delivery windows.

Our business model is good for delivery professionals as well. GoShare offers some of the highest earnings in the gig economy space. Truck and Van owners can make between $47 – $71 an hour on our platform.

By using our software and taking out the traditional middle man, we really are able to offer incredible value for both customers and delivery professionals. Everyone is getting a better experience.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We have been really excited about our growing team of contractors and sales professionals in Houston. Everyone we’ve worked with has been professional, dedicated, and smart. This is an ideal city for businesses, from start-ups to established giants, to work out of. We’ve been nothing but impressed with the talent here.
