Today we’d like to introduce you to Shavon Eal’ease.
Hi Shavon , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2017, I found myself a newly single mother, starting over in a small room at my parents’ home in Miami. Up until then, I had been a stay-at-home mom, lacking workplace skills and experience, having devoted all my energy to living a life I believed was expected of me, without considering my own purpose or identity.
But in that moment of rock bottom, I discovered a lifeline in my passion for Beauty and Wellness. With nothing to lose, I pursued my dream by becoming a licensed Esthetician and founding DeLa Femme Beauty Spa in 2018, starting with just $5,000 from my savings and learning the ropes while working at icon Brickell Spa as a receptionist.
Despite doubts from others about my ability to succeed without backing or experience, I held onto my vision of owning my own spa. Through hard work and unwavering faith, I slowly built DeLa Femme Beauty Spa into a sanctuary for minority women to embrace wellness-centered beauty experiences.
Although I have since pivoted away from the Spa industry. This venture established a foundation for my life’s mission to “empower, inspire & uplift” my sister’s in all things.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Heavens no, I’ve experience challenges on every front.
The emotional challenges of navigating the impact of a broken home on my family.
Financial challenges of self-funding a business, while being the primary provider in my household.
Educational challenges of being the first entrepreneur in my family.
Geographical and cultural challenges of relocating to a new state.
Honestly I love the challenges. Each one a new opportunity to grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve tapped into my gift of encouragement and unleashed my authority to creative freely. Known for curating socially and spiritually conscious works, I’m thrilled to share my latest project – the “Anomale Podcast.”
This podcast holds a special place in my heart as I take a fresh and unconventional approach to exploring Christian Faith. Through episodes like “Embracing Your Uniqueness,” inspired by Hosea chapters 1 and 2, I aim to challenge traditional notions and broaden our perspective of God to a more encompassing view.
At its core, the Anomale Podcast creates a welcoming space to delve into real-life stories from the Bible that often get overlooked. It’s a platform where listeners can feel secure yet liberated to engage with profound themes and thought-provoking discussions.
My proudest moment was being featured in Vogue Magazine. Growing up I adored pricking through those pages. Being apart of them was absolutely surreal. #PinchMeMoment
What was your favorite childhood memory?
The Soul Train Lines. My family is huge and we loved to celebrate. I am 1/10 grandchildren. My mom is 1/8 and my grandmother is 1/7.
Every holiday, birthday or celebration, we all packed into grandma Lilian’s 2 bedroom apartment and had the most epic Soul Train Lines.
I look back with much gratitude. I was built on joy.
