Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Wells.
Hi Shawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Shawn Wells is an energetic Jacksonville, Florida native who may look like an overnight success due to his popularity from the most recent season of Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle (Winter, 2022) though he has been at this for quite some time.
Raised by a single mother who consistently supported Shawn, sharpening his talents since since he was a child, Wells had won over fifteen modeling and pageant competitions by the age of four years old. His inevitable charm and star power cemented in that moment took years to cultivate and has landed him were he is today.
Throughout his adolescence, sports became more of a focus as he decided to leave the entertainment industry behind him; at the age of eighteen, Shawn made the brave decision to join the US Army. Here, he was provided with structure, stability, and a space to mature.
While he was still on active duty, Shawn’s desire to model came back and inspired him to take a leap of faith as he began uploading his updated portfolio on to Instagram in 2017. Since completing his hit Netflix show, Shawn has been a featured guest and host on various local daytime and nighttime talk shows, is starring in the third season of STARZ’s breakout hit, BMF, and has been the leading man in Coco Jones’ video “Double Back.” Shawn has collaborated with the Lover’s and Friends festival in Las Vegas and has done an influencer retreat with dating app BLK.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth path at all. Turning down reality shows with just a belief you’ll be picked up in scripted was scary! The highs of the entertainer industry are great but the lows can be ugly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m proud of myself because I grew confidence. I was forced to do my first photoshoot by a friend who saw my potential. At this time, I’m not sure what I’m known for. People stare at me in confusion daily, not sure what or when they’ve seen me before. It’s one of the phenomena’s of being socially popular. Your face might be famous, but you as a person, is not.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m really into deeper concepts that I don’t uncover. I’m into so many conspiracies and social issues.
