Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheila Lyon ASID, RID.
Sheila, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Accessory Place, acquired from its original ownership in 2001 sells furniture, home furnishings and beautiful accessories with an emphasis on custom floral arrangements that are unmatched in the Houston area. We are located in Town and Country Village and occupy 9000 square feet of retail/design space. the overall management is provided by Nancy Hill, our store manager.
The Interior Design Department, under the direction of Sheila Lyon ASID, RID specializes in full service interior design. With over 30 years experience Sheila and her team handle new construction, remodeling and furnishings projects.
The Accessory Place seeks to employ, collaborative, creative and committed individuals that have an appreciation for fine furniture and furnishings. We respect each individual’s talent and skills and try to foster an environment where each person is allowed to maximize their contribution to the success of our business.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Any successful business has had challenges to overcome. From a retail perspective we strive to have the best customer service for each individual. Expectations can vary so it is a constant challenge to meet those expectations.
We as interior designers welcome the challenge to translate a clients vision and wishes into their dream home.

The Accessory Place specializes in fine home furnishings and are known for quality custom floral arrangements.
We are proud to provide high quality products and exceptional interior design. We are unique in the fact that we have furnishings to purchase from the retail floor to transform a home instantly or take a new construction project from interior specifications and selections through installation of furnishings and move in.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is balancing a challenging and satisfying carrier with a happy personal life.
