Meet Sierra Bradford of SiLashed in South West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Bradford.

Sierra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with the beauty Industry. I had almost every barbie doll and makeup set that was available for me to get my hands on. After high school, I went off to college for a semester and quickly realized that I could not run from my passion any longer. Soon after coming home from college, I enrolled in cosmetology school with the intention of learning more about cutting and coloring hair. When I completed my hours at school, I had one more test to take that would allow me to get my license as a cosmetologist. In the meantime, I started to work a full-time job at Dillards at a makeup counter. During that time, I learned a lot about makeup and myself as well. Over time I still felt like I was missing something as I did when I was in college, not to mention all though I was and I am still very grateful for the experiences I had at the makeup counter it was becoming very obvious that I needed to officially get my license and start in my career. So I scheduled my last test and in the meantime of studying for the test, I started to apply for jobs online. While searching for jobs, I kept seeing job offers for lash techs. At this time, the lash industry was just picking up and no one really knew about lash extensions as they do now so I thought it would be cool to give it a try. I applied, passed my test and was employed at a lash studio within 24hours. I stayed with the company for two years and then decided to branch off and start my own business.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has most definitely not been an easy road. Starting a business has got to be THE MOST thrilling, terrifying, fun frustrating yet humbling experience ever! It causes you to stretch more than you thought you could. It highlights your strengths and weakness all the while teaches you and strengthens you. I made the choice to break from the “rat race” and making someone else rich with only $100 to my name. I had to start from the bottom. It was and at times still is difficult but that’s all apart of the process and you have to just jump in and START. God has really taken me far and guided me along this process and I’m forever thankful for that.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
SiLashed is a lash extension studio that specializes and is known for lash extensions. We are now adding brow tints, brow, chin and lip waxes as well to the services. I am most proud of the company for getting off of the ground and becoming more known around the city. What sets SiLashed apart from others would be the customer service and the welcoming atmosphere I provide.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I honestly feel like Houston is a great place to start. The city is huge so there’s so much room for networking and growth.
