Today we’d like to introduce you to Silvina Aguirre Smith.
Silvina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
ezMetal.com located in Houston, TX manufactures high quality metal panels along with accessories for the metal construction industry. We carry coil inventory and produce custom length in house steel decking, wall and roof panels, flat sheet and trim.
The owners of the business Mr. Ceballos Zamora and Mr. Akaki are from Mexico and have a Group of Companies in that country. This is the first location they set up in USA.
I met them over 16 years ago as customers of mine when I started in the construction business selling in plant and portable roll forming machinery for the Latin American market.
I am originally from Argentina and speak Spanish so they always had fun with my accent or wording (for being a little different from theirs) and we became friends in the long run.
When they decided in 2012 to open a location in USA they asked me to support them with the construction side since I lived in Houston and they were not able to come regularly; once it was all done they asked me to help them with the business and my life has been a roller coaster of events ever since.
We have been open since September 2014 trying to set foot in the Construction US Market and learning daily about the business and how to improve and grow it based on honesty and good customer service.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We definitely can use all the recommendations we can get since the competition is not easy and being new and building a reputation takes time, but we have over 25 years of experience in Mexico to back us up.
The biggest struggle was that nobody knows who you are, your name doesn’t ring a bell to anyone yet.
We had to start from 0 and that’s what we did.
We take it one day at a time; we offer custom length cut off service at no additional charge for all the metal roofing products we supply and no order is too small; so, we are assisting residential as well as the commercial and industrial accounts.
Our main customers are pre-engineering building companies, structural companies, general contractors, subcontractors and roofers.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ezmetal.com story. Tell us more about the business.
We carry coil inventory and produce custom length in house steel decking (1.5″ B, 3″), wall and roof panels (R, PBR), flat sheet and trim.
Our materials are used on multi story buildings, office and school buildings, churches, stadiums, retail shops, fast food stores, gas stations, hotels, homes, etc.
We believe that success comes from establishing long term business relationships along with teamwork, flexibility, quality, customer service and promises fulfillment.
We are very proud of the team of people we work with who are also betting on us to grow together and become something great.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is not something I believe in.
I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that the harder you try and work the more you will accomplish.
In USA the American dream as they call it doesn’t mean that you come here from your homeland and everything is easy and you become rich from one day to the next; it’s very far from that.
I do know out of my own experience that America gives people the opportunity to grow and they value very much the knowledge and the effort you put in everything you do.
I would replace the word luck for Perseverance, Humbleness, Not giving up and Being open to Learning new things.
