Everything that sparkles does shine when it comes to celebrity makeup artist and licensed esthetician, Sparkle Chanel Lockett.
With more than 17 years of cosmetics industry experience, Sparkle Chanel Lockett knows just how important it is to make every occasion special. It is this experience that has helped her build one of the most sought after cosmetics lines, MakeUp By Sparkle Beauty & Cosmetics (MBS). The fundamentals of the MBS Cosmetics brand are professionalism, boldness and confident style. Representing the ProGlam woman, Sparkle sought out to create a line of cosmetics to encourage professional women to be their boldest, brightest selves from work hours to happy hour.
With her skills gracing the faces of Prince, DJ Spinderella of Salt & Pepa and even Madonna, during her 2012 Super Bowl halftime show, makeup artistry was just not enough for this beauty connoisseur. In 2012, the veteran IT professional attended Tricoci University of Beauty Culture where she obtained her esthetics license. With experience, license and passion in tow, Sparkle had the perfect formula to expand her brand which included opening a brick and mortar location in downtown Indianapolis (2012-2017) and most recently, a bustling e-commerce business.
Culminating makeup and skincare was natural for Sparkle. She believes and educates her clients and team that beautiful cared for skin is the real foundation for any makeup look. The deeply-pigmented hues of makeup should be used as an enhancement to your glowing skin.
What started as a hobby has evolved into an aesthetics enterprise. Sparkle’s work has been featured in several publications and she regularly appeared on FOX 59 morning show including a segment on the “Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda.” She consistently receives accolades from both her customers and peers.
The roadmap for the future will always include community involvement, environmental causes and giving back to professional women’s organizations that support self-esteem and independence in young women.
An Indianapolis native, Sparkle graduated from Marian University and completed her MBA from Anderson University. She completed Tricoci in November 2012 as a “Super Star Graduate.” Today, Sparkle resides in the “Lone Star” state of Texas (Houston area).
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an Entrepreneur is very challenging on all levels. It’s kinda like a love and hate relationship. Some of the struggles that I’ve had along the way have been wearing all the hats, taking a financial risk, managing the day-to-day while working a full-time job and the feeling of failing.
