Meet Stacey Pullum and Donna Cotterman of Vintage Station

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Pullum and Donna Cotterman.

Who would have thought that two good friends, Donna & Stacey, who loved authentic vintage decor would ever really have a store! After talking about it for nearly 2 years, we found a historical building for rent in Old Town Tomball, looked at each other and thought why not? Next, we had to talk our husbands into it! The rest is history with our first day of business on Black Friday 2013! We started out knowing what we wanted it to be, a true vintage store!! So that meant we had to be a true vintage source, constantly searching and digging for those unique vintage items.

The boys, Don & Jason, help us find that unique one of kind items and create all the beautiful vintage vignettes that we love so much! Sometimes we’re amazed at what comes out! Now after 4 years of tweaking and fine tuning our style we’ve become very comfortable with who we are and what our vintage shop stands for! And it appears that others have too as we were just recently nominated in Flea Market Style Magazine as Readers Pick of top vintage shops in America. We were very excited about that, to say the least!

We also have to thank two of our friends who have been with us from the beginning Mona and Sue. These girls have been such a great support for the store not to mention bringing their talent to the table! So many friends that have helped us out in so many ways! We truly thank them all for keeping us going for 4 years now! We feel the best is yet to come!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, opening a business is never an easy operation. We also knew that the current economy may not have been the best time to open a brick and mortar store, So we started out small and worked to keep costs to a minimum. It worked! Last year we were even able to take advantage of an opportunity to double our store size.

Our biggest challenge continues to be finding those one of a kind vintage items that our customers will love and can afford! In addition, we strive to stay in touch with what people are looking for in vintage decor. It takes a lot of work but the look on our customer’s smiling faces when they find that special piece makes it all worthwhile!

Please tell us about Vintage Station.
We specialize in true vintage decor. That’s our standard and it sets us apart from so many other shops. Our customers know that and its what keeps them coming back for more. We are in constant picking mode, taking trips all over Texas and across the country in search of more inventory. We are also happy that our annual Outdoor Spring Show right here in Old Town Tomball has been such a success!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Having grown up in Tomball, Stacey remembers when her mother & father would bring her to Brautigam’s general store next door when she was a little girl! That’s one reason we fell in love with the history of the building we are in!

Stacey is my youngest daughter. I am very proud of the success she and Donna have had. I know that they only have great things coming there way.
