Meet Stacie Getgood of Prime Genetics in Sugarland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Getgood.

Stacie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
At 30 years old, I delivered my youngest son and at my 6 weeks checkup was found to have cervical cancer. I am now infertile due to the treatments that I had to go through. I was working with my Oncologist for a few years and he asked me if I would be interested in a business idea he and his brother had. We talked for several months and then decided to open Prime Genetics. Here we are 11 years later and it has been a great feeling to work in this line of business and help those who were infertile. I feel that this was my calling and with me now being infertile, faced the sadness that I would never be able to have another child on my own. This was an extreme blow to our family as we wanted more children in our future.

So after starting this company from the ground up, I have great pleasure stating that we have helped so many who are in the same boat as my husband and I were. I can relate to those who are no longer able to conceive on their own or carry their own child. I take pride in educating couples on their options, whether it be adoption, egg donor, surrogate or both. Everyone that desires to have a family, deserves the chance at being a parent. We walk through this journey with our couples from start to finish and create great bonds with each of them and the egg donors and surrogates whom they choose to help them.

It is a true blessing to know that there are women in this world, who give selflessly and care so deeply about this process as well. We feel that having a smaller agency gives us more time to really be involved and allows us more time to “hand hold” the couples, egg donors and surrogates, through their journeys.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all! There have been many obstacles that we have ran into but at the end of the day, we push through to the other side. Challenges that we have faced along the way only make us stronger and we learn from those things for the next journey. We know that communication is very important in this business. We all need to work together as a team to be successful and find ways to deal with anything that comes our way. When you are so happy for one couple because they got a positive pregnancy and then the same day another couple gets a negative or has a miscarriage etc., then we have to balance our emotions and stay positive for that couple who didn’t get the results they wanted. This is tough for the entire agency, not just one employee. We all hurt and/or celebrate, when the other does. They say it takes a village to raise a child but in this business, it also takes a village to create a child!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our agency is a small one so we feel we are more hands on and offer support for all parties, during each journey. We have heard from a few, that they feel as if they are a number with other agencies, being rushed through to the next step, while with our agency, we work together with our couples, egg donors and surrogates, to ensure a smooth process from start the finish.

We most always go to our egg donor retrievals, surrogate transfers and all deliveries, to be a support for each of them while taking these next steps. I have been told by a few clinics in the area, that we are the only agency that shows up for these appointments and such. We feel honored that we were chosen to help these in need of this kind of service.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston has the best medical providers, no matter what ailment a person has. I strongly agree that this is a great city to run a business such as ours.
