Meet Stefanie Keeland of Stefanie Keeland Photography in North Houston – Montgomery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Keeland.

Stefanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I actually feel like my path to my photography career was a little more like a broken squiggly line that ultimately led me to where I am today. I took film photography classes in college while earning my BFA in Radio Television Film. Several years later, I started taking digital photography classes, which then led to practicing on my baby girl and my friends children. I was no where near what I would consider a professional at that time, but I loved working with kids and had some background knowledge. I took the final leap of faith and went full time as a photographer (taking any and all sessions I could get) about the time my twin boys were born. I have to tell you that it actually took me several years of doing photography full time before I even felt comfortable calling myself a professional photographer! Since that time, I have continued to take workshops and classes and have really focused on wedding and event photography as well as newborns and am extremely proud to be able to do what I love and be able to capture some of the most important moments in my clients lives!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think every business has its struggles at times, right? I know that in photography, recommendations by past clients and repeat clients are the ultimate form of flattery and that for me personally, I feel like I am doing my job and making sure my clients are happy. I am a people pleaser, which is a blessing and a curse. If I feel like my clients are waiting for their photos or that their session may not have gone as smoothly as they hoped, I find myself letting it affect me. Another struggle I run into is allocating my time. whether it be booking all of my sessions, allotting all the hours needed for editing, making sure I don’t take on more than I can handle, and still allow for my children. There have been times along the way that I have absolutely taken on too much, so that was a learning experience.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stefanie Keeland Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business specializes in event photography, such as weddings and formals, and the important milestones of your marriage, including maternity and newborns as well as the babies first year.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I hope to continue on my path. I love all the friends and clients I’ve made along the way and am so touched by all the memories I get to capture and share!
