Meet Stefanye Williams of Makeup By Stefanye and Maryai Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanye Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began practicing makeup on myself in 2012. As I grew my skills and techniques I began practicing on friends around 2016. My main reason for even starting makeup was initially purely curiosity. However, after that, I immediately fell in love. The transformation process is my all time favorite. Makeup is an art but it brings out the best in people. Makeup is an all-inclusive art as well. I love the colors, the techniques, the products and just everything. Makeup has taken me very far.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest obstacle was marketing myself. I knew I wanted to do it but didn’t know how. I will admit my own insecurities could’ve held me back but I didn’t allow it to. I’m still extremely critical of myself but I’m confident in my abilities.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Makeup By Stefanye and Maryai Cosmetics?
Makeup By Stefanye is my platform as a makeup artist. I am a traveling makeup artist so I do go around the country and as of 2021, I went out of the country. Makeup By Stefanye is a teacher, a therapist and a talented makeup artist. I provide a pampering experience for all of my clients. Maryai Cosmetics is my cosmetics brand. It’s where I can bring my ideas to the table and create. The name Maryai was inspired by my 12 year old who’s name is Amari. Her nickname is Mar-Yay so I changed the “Y” to an “I” and named my brand Maryai Cosmetics. The thing that separates me from others I believe is my passion and my drive. I really do love what I do. On my good days and my bad days I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I’m most proud of my growth in this lane I’ve created. I’ve been able to learn branding in depth and my business continues to grow. They are like my children and I’m raising them to be the best they can be.

How do you define success?
Success is hard to define but for me, success is continuous learning. I am learning everyday and when I apply what I’ve learned and see results I consider that a success.
