Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Harris and Tracy Modisette.
Stephanie and Tracy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started making treats for my dogs because I wanted options that were healthier and cleaner than what I found in pet stores, I could not find anything with just one ingredient and store-bought treats were very expensive so I decided to just make my own from home, but I wanted treats that were delicious, nutritious and had all the nutritional value left in them and that would have a long shelf life… so 4Petsake was born.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think starting a small business is ever smooth, but it has been fun, exciting and I’m learning a lot along the way. The biggest struggles have been just getting the word out there as advertising is costly at this moment and we are just word of mouth and a few social media sites, I am doing a lot of farmers markets and events where I can share the love of 4Petsake. Another struggle is growth… growing is good, but getting the product out and having space, time, help and machines to produce is tricky.

We are a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing an assortment of healthy and delicious pet treats. We believe that the right treat needn’t be either a guilt trip or a rare occurrence, which is why we only use ethically sourced raw ingredients. Our freeze-dried treats offer more than their fair share of ‘flavor joy’ being made from premium hand-picked meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. You will never see additives, preservatives or grim artificial nasties, what you see is what you get! Just one ingredient.
We chose the process of freeze-drying to ensure your beloved pets are getting the most healthy and satisfying treats available.
◦ What is freeze-drying? Freeze drying is a special form of drying that removes all moisture and preserves food without shrinking or becoming too tough like other drying methods, it allows us to make nutrient-dense treats without losing the color and flavor.
◦ Out of my family’s love for all pets big & small we wanted to provide them with the best possible food and started making our own treats, we found our 4 legged family members loved their new treats so much that we wanted to share the love and so 4Petsake was born.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Knowing that the product I am sharing is good, I never have to apologize for sub-par. I’m so proud of my boys stepping up and that we did this as a family. I’m excited to wake up every day to do what we do!! The future is bright
