Meet Steve Hofmann of ENG Aviation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Hofmann

Hi Steve, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Started as a customer of private aviation. Was very disappointed in the customer service side of flying private and the more I learned, realized that a lot of private aviation companies are antiquated and struggle to provide a good customer experience.

Through that, we launched ENG Aviation, that was built on three core pillars: People, Planes, & Technology. We observed that most private aviation companies mistake the airplane for their customer, instead of the aircraft owner or passengers as the customer. We wanted to bring the people aspect back to private aviation and provide a rewarding and lasting experience for aircraft owners and passengers.

Today, ENG Aviation is one of the leading Organ Transplant Air Operators in the state of Texas, with our principle base of operations at Houston Hobby airport. We specialize in providing air transportation for Transplant Centers across Houston and the state of Texas for organ transplants, helping our customers provide the gift of life for organ recipients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most businesses, we spend a lot of time finding the right people to support our business. In order to serve our customers and provide a smooth experience, we have spent an enormous amount of time building the right mechanisms and focusing on the quality of inputs for those mechanisms.

We’ve been impressed with ENG Aviation, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
ENG Aviation – ENG stands for “Earned. Never Given.” We believe in earning our customers’ trust and once we do, we will earn their business. Everything we do in life, both personally and professionally has to be earned, every single day. That mentality is what makes the foundation of our company culture and the way we earn our customers’ business.

We specialize in aircraft management and Organ Transplant Transportation. We partner with Transplant Centers throughout Houston and Texas to provide air transportation for organ recovery. Our Operations and Dispatch is 24/7, with the ability to be wheels up within 2 hours, to meet our Transplant Centers’ time-critical needs.

We’re most proud of the life-saving mission we support and the success we’ve had doing it. We built a business that benefits our customers, not us, and the result of that is we’re successful because our customers are successful. A lot of companies focus on profits, but that’s a result. We focus on our customers, our mechanisms, and finding ways to make our customers’ lives easier which leads to the desired results we’ve achieved.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Find people who have accomplished what you want to accomplish and make the ask. Most people are always willing to share their experience, learnings, failures, and advice; you just have to make the ask.

Once you do, always come prepared to make the most of your time and ensure your questions are something you can’t find on the internet or other sources.
