Meet Sydney C

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney C.

Hi Sydney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Sydney originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and reside in Houston Tx. For as long as I can remember, I have been painting. Painting has always been a passion of mine, I would use it as a way to escape from the world. 2019 I suffered a major loss and I remember shutting myself out from the world for weeks and just painting my emotions away. Within that same year I had my daughter so that really became the main source of my motivation. I feel like I got to where I’m at from support from friends back home in Minnesota to my friends I have met here in Houston. I took a leap of faith one day, quit my 9-5 with a 1yr old and opened an art studio where we host paint & sips and more. Having those around you who will challenge you, ground you, and keep your head on straight is what kept me going. My first year had been undeniably incredible from sold-out events to bookings in different cities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road going from months of having a creative block to sometimes weeks with no commissions.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist who specializes in acrylic and digital art. A lot of my art is centered around the woman’s physique or 90s era. I’m most proud of the sold-out sip and paint parties that I have thrown at the studio. I think what sets me apart from others is I’m always willing to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to art.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
When I first started Instagram, I used to post my art anonymously and never told my friends about my page for almost 4-5 months. I wanted to see if my art was worth bragging about and I could be a successful artist.
