Tabitha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born to a Seamstress (Mother), a Master Tailor (Grandfather), and Master Seamstress (Grandmother), Fashion runs through my DNA. Growing up, I use to watch my Grandmother and Mother get dressed. The Silk and Satin Blouses. Pencil Skirts, Fancy Dresses, Big Hats, Stiletto Heels, Earrings and all the Glam. The smell of them Lingard in the house as they Sashayed through the hallways leaving for events.
Once I graduated, I worked in retail for a while, women would walk up to me all the time asking about my outfits, could I help them put something together for an event they have planned. So while working in the department stores, I learned everything I could about the Fashion industry, supply, demand, setup, advertising, customer service and more.
With Faith and Determination, I planted a Mustard Seed, I’ve been Nurturing, Watering and Watching it Blossom and Grow. Treasure Chest started with just one Loyal Customer, now women all over the world has access to us through our website www.ttreasurechestt.com shipping worldwide.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is not easy. Do not ask God to guide your footsteps if you’re not ready to move your feet. If you’re not ready to put the work in, early mornings, late nights, hearing the words not interested, doors being closed, being a small business owner is not for you. Nothing in life comes easy. When you have a fairly new small business no one really knows about you, it’s 1,000 plus websites and stores in the same industry, I also noticed everybody wants what the celebrities are advertising and wearing. No connections means no collections if you know what I mean.
Treasure Chest – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Treasure Chest is an online/mobile women’s Boutique, our goal is to Encourage and build Confidence inside and out, one outfit at a time and make sure every women feels like a Queen. We sale women’s clothing Small-3x, Accessories, we print and design T-Shirts, pillows, candles and more. We specialize in Brand packaging, Styling, Last minute wardrobe needs, Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays and Special events. Treasure Chest has been featured in Fashion Shows, Brunch Series, Business Startup Workshops, Women Conferences, Vendor Pop-ups Events, Private Trunk Shows and more. Each and every women we encounter is treated like a Queen. We’re not just looking to make a sale. We Cater to our Queen’s needs. What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment thus far, I can honestly say has been just putting myself out there vulnerable and all for the world to see. I won’t look back ten years from now saying I should have or If I only had did things differently. Not everyone will gravitate to you, your style or support your Dream/Business and that’s ok. I have a Passion, I saw a Vision, I’m keeping my Faith walking down that path God has laid out for me and enjoying the journey along the way. “Trust in the Lord with your whole heart and lean not on our own understanding, acknowledge him in all you do and he will make your path straight”.
