Meet Tabydrick Scott of Everythang Kajun & Co in Northeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabydrick Scott.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tabydrick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started cooking when I 15 years old, my grandmother the late Rosie lee Moore of Alexandria, LA would often call me with recipes and a list of things to buy! My passion for cooking goes back to when I was a child, my parents was going through a rough patch, and we struggled, we had some hardship, and I always said if I didn’t become a cop, nurse or minister, I would be a chef! Growing up wasn’t easy, many dark days but we made it through! As a child I would watch both of my grandmothers Mary Hicks and Rose Moore and also a few other family members cook! The sweet aroma of fried chicken, mustard and collard greens, yams, black eyed peas, red beans and rice with come hot water cornbread! It was a way to keep our family together and love each other no matter how we fuss and fight, I desired to become a pastry chef in 2014, the same year my grandmother Rosie Lee Moore had a stroke, she and I made plans to open our very first family restaurant in the summer of 2015, but she would pass away January of 2015!

So, I decided to continue her legacy, by cooking and baking all of those delicious things she instilled in me as a teenager and into my manhood today! I struggled trying to make everyone happy but me, I spent many years of going to college to get this degree or aim for this degree in that field! I was teased as a kid, mistreated by many due to me looking like my father, as a child I felt hopeless and hearing as a kid I would never amount to anything, I would be like father in and out of prison! Working dead end jobs, just to survive and get through life! Now I live my life with no regrets, fears or worries! I’m happily married and I’m blessed with a smart and intelligent son! Cooking and baking take me back into the moments of sharing the kitchen with my grandmother, she made me promise to never stop trying and pushing forward! Everythang Kajun was created with my Louisiana roots in mind. A little bit about me I’m from Houston, Texas, born and raised in The Independent Heights Community (Studewood Texas). I attended James D. Burrus Elementary, Alexander Hamilton Middle School and I graduated from Booker T. Washington High School Senior Class of 2004! I later on in life furthered my education with my Doctorate in Theological Education, at Gods Ministry Outreach Theological Institute, Houston under the guidance of Bishop Dr. Mildred Henry, campus instructor!

Today, I’m married Lady Charnelle Scott, blessed with one son Cori! I’m also a future author I’m preparing to release my first book entitled Freedom! I’m blessed to still have both of my parents alive and well, blessed also with my bonus parents the Morris! Many obstacles, many no’s, many setbacks, and now I’ve been setup with a major comeback! I must encourage this generation and ones to come, you’re the only person who has power to stop you from growing and you have the power to keep you growing, I watched my mom struggle, many tears and many disappointments but to see her children finish school get married and have a family of their own is her fulfillment! No one has to know how you started, but allow them to watch you finish! Jeremiah 29:11” For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you and expected end.” Everythang Kajun speaks of love, family and fun! Serving from grandmother’s southern foods, to our old-fashioned desserts to which is not being cooked or shared with today’s generation! As we continue to expand please be on the look out for our soon to come restaurant opening! Thanks again for choosing me to place in your article!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Far from smooth! When I was 25, I had a stroke, stress is a silent killer! I’ve been knocked down many of times, I’ve always put myself on the back burner, I’ve always been selfless, even when I could have said no and walked away, my parents taught that it is better to have it and help someone who needs it verses having it and not caring about the consequences later. I battled depression growing-up, loneliness and insecurities! I can honestly say today I’ve overcome all of those dark places, not because I’m married but because I choose to love me more and learn more about me!
