For the past 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving the community by managing affordable housing apartment homes. My professional journey, spanning over a decade, has been firmly rooted in creating inclusive and vibrant living spaces. During this time, my role extended far beyond property management; it’s been about fostering a sense of belonging, organizing impactful community events, and leading with a strong commitment to collaboration.
My commitment to community management has been characterized by an all-encompassing approach. I’ve strived to create not just places to live but homes where residents feel valued and engaged with each other. This mindset aligns with my belief that beauty is synonymous with self-expression, representing the freedom and ease to be your authentic self.
This journey has honed my ability to build partnerships with both my team and retailers, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and open communication.
This background in community management has been the driving force behind my venture into the beauty industry. It has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of community and the importance of offering products that address common challenges such as eczema, hair thinning, acne, slow beard growth, and dry skin. We are dedicated to providing solutions that not only enhance beauty but also address these real-life concerns that our community members face daily. This belief, alongside my faith, sustains I’mat Dream Brand, where I aim to bring people together through products that inspire self-expression, self-care, and empowerment.
As my journey in the beauty industry evolved, I recognized an opportunity to expand the impact of I’mat Dream and the concept of self-expression. This led me to explore new horizons and partnerships, not only to provide exceptional beauty and grooming products but to create meaningful connections.
We’ve united to extend our mission of empowerment, self-expression, and self-care to an even broader audience within our thriving communities: barbershops and beauty bars.
I’m thrilled to share a shining example of our collaboration with a local barbershop that holds a special place in the heart of Stafford, TX. @thefadeparlor, owned and operated by Victor Adeloye, has been a cornerstone of this community for over a decade. Vic’s unique perspective sheds light on the remarkable customer experience our brand, I’mat Dream, brings to his barbershop, providing a one-stop destination for grooming needs through convenience. Vic emphasizes, ‘My clients have immediate access to a quality product that’s been tried and tested, and they also have the ability to support a local black-owned business, all at a competitive cost.’
As we continue our journey through the realm of retail partnerships, let me introduce you to another exciting collaboration, this time with @theperfectionsbarbershop, a thriving establishment in Houston, TX, co-owned by Cory Macon. Cory is no stranger to the barbershop industry, as he also co-owns Diligent Hands Barbershop and Rayzor Sharp Barbershop. His insights into our partnership shed light on the tremendous enhancement of the client experience. Cory notes, ‘For years, the beauty industry has been geared towards females, but as of the last few years, the men’s care industry has grown, and many men are unaware. Having this partnership allows our barbershop to display, promote, and educate our clients with amazing products that some didn’t even know they needed, and on top of that, it increases potential revenue. I personally am grateful for the opportunity and see a bright future for I’MAT DREAM…’
Working within this partnership has not only been a business collaboration but a blessing in connecting with the talented barbers @theperfectionsbarbershop. Our Certified Retail Marketing Consultant, @imatdreamgirlrenee, takes immense pride in capturing the barbers’ work and artistry and sharing it with the world on social media.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While our journey has been filled with remarkable achievements, we’ve certainly encountered our share of challenges. One significant challenge has been in aligning with brands that share our vision. We’re actively working on streamlining our partnership selection process to ensure that every collaboration resonates with our commitment to empowerment, self-expression, and self-care.
As we continue to build new partnerships and expand our product offerings, another challenge arises in curating the right products for our audience. Some products may not sell as quickly as others, presenting a unique set of difficulties.
However, we’ve found a meaningful way to address this challenge. For products that might need to be removed due to market changes or to keep our offerings fresh and innovative, we’ve initiated a compassionate initiative. We create care packages filled with self-care and grooming products, which we then distribute to the homeless communities in Houston and the surrounding areas. While slow-selling products can be a hurdle, we are steadfast in our commitment to being a blessing to the community, especially those in need, through these care packages.
