Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Renee
Hi Tamika, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve loved makeup since I was a young girl and became a part-time makeup artist about 10 years ago. Being a MUA and working with lots of different women, I loved how adding the lashes was the perfect finishing touch, it really just brought the entire look together! During this time, I also heard many women express their desire to wear lashes, but they found the process of selecting and applying them overwhelming. I saw an opportunity to simplify the process and help people look good with an essential accessory to make their eyes pop. This was the inspiration behind creating the faithFULL Lashes brand.
I became unemployed at the start of COVID, and a few months later, my stepdad was hospitalized with COVID. My stepdad spent a month in the hospital, three weeks on a ventilator, and coded twice during his stay. The situation was challenging, and I wasn’t sure how to make ends meet for my family but I knew I had to do something. This was truly a time where I felt like all I had was faith. I told GOD if he’d bring my stepdad home I would make him the center of this brand. Well by the grace of GOD, my stepdad came back home and has made a full recovery. And that’s how faithFULL Lashes was born. It has truly been a labor of love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing has been a smooth road when it comes to this journey. Despite receiving compliments on my skills, booking clients was and has been challenging. Recently, moving to Houston, I’ve had to start all over again.
While starting the high-end lash boutique, faithFULL Lashes, was relatively easy, the journey has been difficult. Our biggest struggle has been particularly with marketing. Trying not to get drowned out and lost in the sauce by all of the e-commerce businesses. We are constantly trying to get our product in front of as many of the right people, as possible. This has been a significant hurdle, but we are figuring it out. Continuously trying to hone in on our target audience through messaging and visuals. Through it all, I have learned a lot about the business and myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a MUA, I focus on enhancing natural beauty through makeup with my signature “Polished Glam” style. My philosophy is to create a flawless radiant complexion with neutral tones on the eyes and lips when the moon strikes for something bolder we can add a pop color to the eyes or lips for touch a personality.
I’m also passionate about helping people achieve beautiful lashes with faithFULL Lashes. Our lash brand is just different. We offer handmade 3D mink strip lashes in both natural and dramatic lash styles. Our goal is to elevate your look, not overpower it. Lashes are the accessory that turns into the main attraction. That’s why our lashes are lightweight, beginner-friendly, and cruelty-free, designed to give you that professional salon look without the price tag or the time commitment.
Outside of just having the best lashes out our goal is to build community within the beauty world through faith, fun, and humor! We are a faith-based brand that LOVES Jesus! We also believe that the key to life is going by the ABCs – being authentic, bold, and courageous. It’s important to live life not only exist in it and look beautiful while doing so!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes! You must pivot and constantly rework your business. When COVID-19 began, people made more online purchases and took more risks. However, the economy and spending habits have changed, so you must continue to revamp your messaging, marketing, and product positioning. P
