Meet Tammy Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Smith.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m originally from San Antonio, but I moved to Houston while attending Prairie View A&M University. My degree is in Health Sciences, but my passion has always been fashion. People recognized that and also thought I was a good writer, so they urged me to start a fashion blog. My first fashion blog, The Urban Carrie, was started in 2015. Since then, I’ve created two additional blogs and added traveling blogging to my resume. Blogging is something I never wanted to do, but now it’s a major part of my life.

Please tell us about your art.
Currently, I blog about travel and lifestyle. I travel 3-5 times a year, take pictures and create stories or tips around my experiences. I started initially because others urged me to do it, but now I do it because I feel compelled to share my knowledge with travel newbies. The name of my current blog is The World Is Mine, and the message is just that. The world is mine… and yours. Anything you want to do, you can. To achieve any goal, think limitless. I hope people get the message that travel can be affordable and fulfilling. Many people think blogging is easy and free, but it’s neither. I pay for and manage my own website, consistently create content, and manage social media. Also, all bloggers don’t get paid lots of money or have partnerships.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Attend networking events in your industry. Be as social as you can. Authenticity is key. When networking, don’t just think about what you can get out of it. Also, think about what you have to offer. All collaborations should be mutually beneficial.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My website is http://theworldismine.co. People can subscribe to my blog and also follow me on Instagram at @theworldismineco. In the future, I plan to add a store to the site selling travel related and inspired products.
