Meet Taylor Larson of Pure Barre Houston-River Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Larson.

Taylor, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My whole life, I have always been attracted to a healthy lifestyle and passionate about sharing my knowledge and motivation to live this way with others. I am Registered Dietitian by schooling and practiced personal consulting and corporate wellness for about 3.5 years before starting a job with Pure Barre. I was the Manager at Pure Barre River Oaks from day one (actually for about a month prior to opening in November 2013) and wanted to pursue ownership from day one.

I approached our Corporate office about this, and they were thrilled to offer me this opportunity so onwards it went and here I am today! I have no doubt it was a move ordained by God himself and feel very blessed to have this opportunity to lead others towards a more healthy lifestyle day in and out. I opened a second location in Spring, TX where I am originally from, in January of 2017. Both of the studio’s keep me very busy, but I wouldn’t change any minute of it. There’s a little saying about our comfort zones not leading to personal growth…this is is something I try to live by, and this role in particular certainly keeps me on my toes…pun intended!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, absolutely not. I faced many obstacles when working to get approval for a small business loan. I had absolutely no collateral and, while I had a great credit score, that isn’t what gets people a loan to start or purchase a small business. Again, I give all credit to God for opening this door for me and to my family for their support and spurring me on in my faith to face fear right in its face. I cannot explain the personal growth that came from doing this at the ripe old age of 27. I am forever grateful! Additionally, I had no experience managing a team and had to learn (and still do!) as I went. My father owns his own businesses and is always there to give me guidance when I need it. I read as much as I can about leadership not only because I have to, but because I feel that we all serve in a leadership role in some way and those skills can benefit us in many areas of our life. I have a huge support system and without them, none of this would have been possible!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pure Barre Houston, TX-River Oaks – what should we know?
Pure Barre is the largest, most established barre franchise in the nation, with more than 460 studios throughout the U.S. and Canada, and more studios opening each month. Pure Barre is a total body workout that uses the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements, which burn fat, sculpt muscles and create long, lean physiques. In July of 2009, Pure Barre became a franchise and has exploded in popularity, due to its extremely effective technique (which transforms the shape your body in record-breaking time); friendly, high-energy atmosphere; and fun, motivating music.

Pure Barre is more than just a workout; it’s a lifestyle. At Pure Barre, women share a sense of community in which they are inspired and empowered by each others’ fitness and lifestyle goals. In addition to classes, Pure Barre also offers online workouts, equipment, and exercise apparel.

I manage all operations of the studio and no day is ever the same, that’s for sure! I have an awesome team of women who run the front desks and others that are incredibly talented at teaching the technique. My favorite part of the job is definitely spurring on personal growth amongst my team and clientele; and motivating them to discover and attain their best self, whatever that looks like.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents, hands down. I have an incredible support system and have been blessed with not only two parents, but four. They all hold a very dear place in my heart and have helped me become who I am today and achieve the things I have. My sweet husband is also one of my biggest cheerleader’s. He is always there to listen to me about my latest obstacle or newest idea and encourages me to continue persevering through it all. At the end of the day, I am so grateful for my humongous family for their continued support and love through this journey!
