Today we’d like to introduce you to Tbish Tutsi Chidawanyika (Tbish).
Hi Tbish, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Started making music in 2018 under the name Tbi$h. In 2023 I moved to Tbish. I was previously signed to Universal through Ingrooves and am now with ADA Warner. My song “Trenches” is what really got me traction and since then I’ve had the same manager, Zac Gould. The track debuted in July 2020 on Spotify Fresh Finds Global and Fresh Finds Hip Hop and I was nominated for Triple J Artist of the Year in 2021 under Tbi$h as well as the QMA music awards. Have also signed to Niche touring agency too.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, life has its events and struggles. But I’ve just graduated which is a path I never thought I’d take. I now have a Bachelor Honours degree as of 2026 and I’m really looking forward to finally being able to give my music the attention it deserves.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hip hop and drill artist born in Zimbabwe, raised between Birmingham and Auckland, and now based in Brisbane. What sets me apart is that background ,the diversity of it all. I rep Australia but my roots and my sound pull from everywhere I’ve lived and everyone I’ve moved with.
My most known track is “Trenches,” a UK-Australia collaboration produced with Ghosty, Digga D, BizzyBanks and Oyabun. It crossed 200,000 plays on Spotify and debuted on Spotify Fresh Finds Global and Fresh Finds Hip Hop. Triple J Unearthed Music Director Dave Ruby Howe also showed love early. I was nominated for Triple J Artist of the Year in 2021 and have been signed to Universal through Ingrooves, now with ADA Warner. I’m also with Niche Talent Agency for bookings.
What I’m most proud of is being authentic to where I’m from while building something real in the Australian music scene. The music comes from lived experience that’s what makes it connect.
What were you like growing up?
I wasn’t the loudest kid unless I was at home. At school I was quiety,I was raised well and disciplined early so I picked up the right behaviours from young. Growing up across Zimbabwe, Birmingham and Auckland before landing in Brisbane meant I was always adapting, always observing. That shapes you.
Football has always been a massive passion for me, soccer, and that’s never changed. But underneath all of it was always music and the streets, those experiences are where the influence really comes from. Growing up taught me about survival and that energy carried straight into my art.
