Today we’d like to introduce you to Dahlia McCutchen.
Dahlia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. So, when becoming an Author, Entrepreneur, Motivational Speaker, Mother, and Survivalist it felt like a dream, I was born in Philadelphia, PA., in the heart of the ghetto, right there in south Philly.
I struggled with low self-esteem, starting at a very early age and it continued into my adult years. I recall being so unhappy with my family… my friends… and my life, but masked it living in the world of entertainment, power, and money. This dissatisfaction with my life led to living a life that set me apart from many, as money became the root of all things evil. No one ever knew I was struggling internally, as I found a way to mask the hurt and the pain by living through my alter ego.
After all, I have been through in my life, being a domestic violence survivor, walking away from an industry that had sucked me in and nearly being murdered on several occasions, I found the one being to help me overcome the things that had weighed me down for years. GOD. I dedicated my life to Christ and I am on a mission to save lives in the hopes that they won’t follow the path I had chosen in my earlier years! With a newfound love for writing combined with my passion to help other women, I AM finding my purpose. Using life’s lessons and experiences, I am using my voice to help many.
I am a survivor of many attacks, once an insecure mother struggling to find her way, struggling to find my purpose… I have found my confidence in Christ and is currently living out my dreams as a mother of two, a self-published author, and running my own military contracting company T&D logistics that I started back in 2014. It seemed like the hardest thing that I ever had to do. I had to learn the military codes, contracts, and what the military needed. I had to read over every piece of military material there was. While learning what I needed to know about the department of defense, I was also working on becoming an author and working on other business ventures such as starting a company called Faceit which is a skincare line that is still in its early stages of development. However, T&D Logistics is my main focus because the government spends over $80 billion dollars in supplies for the military a year. So, I am super excited to see where I can take T&D logistics, and one day becoming a New York Times best selling author. My hopes is to use the money that I make from T&D Logistics and my book sales is to start a non-profit organization to help young girls and women who are dealing with mental/physical abuse, rape, molestation, and domestic violence, as well as homelessness.
While trying to live out my dreams an entrepreneur, in my spare time, I am completing my bachelor’s in Behavior Analysis (child & adolescent psychology), so that I may be able to help young girls and women through experience and my book knowledge. My mission and goals are to change lives, both the young and the young at heart around this world with my Testimony of Survival and Redemption!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road. I have hit rock bottom while trying to get my businesses started. There have been times where I was homeless, and times where I almost lost it all. In the beginning, I didn’t have one dime to start my business but I pushed through by seeking help and looking at what resources I had to help me get that jump. The road and the journey has been extremely hard.
Please tell us more about your company, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
T&D Logistics helps our troops with their medical supplies, water, solider equipment and a large range of different items that are not so accessible to them. T&D Logistics makes sure that we provide reasonable pricing for the government so that they are not having to go directly through the actual manufacturing company and being raped with obscene prices. I am most proud of staying afloat and not giving up on my businesses or myself. I don’t think anything sets me apart from anyone, I feel that we all have special talents and attributes in whatever field we are trying to accomplish in our goals.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
In the business that I am in, it doesn’t matter about the city that I live in. Being a military contractor and an author is something that can be done anywhere in the world. You just have to have the drive and not set limits based on your zip code.
