Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzah of TeaForTurmeric Blog.
Izzah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My education and work experience are actually in engineering and business. It may seem to have little relevance to what I’m doing right now, but I think my technical background actually helps!
For example, I find myself doing plenty of reverse engineering and analysis of what works and what doesn’t. And I rarely fear the technical side of things, which seems to be a struggle for many creatives. Also, blogging in 2018 is more like running a business, so it all comes together to benefit my work.
I started my blog a bit sporadically, not knowing how intense the online entrepreneurship journey would be. But now that I’m in it, I love every bit of it! I hope to continue it as a part of my career.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely not an easy path, but it is a rewarding one.
I think the biggest challenge is not knowing if this career path will ‘work’. It’s easy to get impatient about achieving certain milestones, like page views, subscribers, or even income.
I try to enjoy the process instead of waiting for a certain achievement to make me feel successful. This helps me continue my journey with joy and excitement!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about TeaForTurmeric – what should we know?
I share healthy, gluten-free recipes on my blog, and many of my recipes are inspired by my Pakistani heritage.
I aim to make South Asian cooking easier and healthier with zero sacrifices on the classic, ‘authentic’ taste. I also share plenty of tutorials, LIVE videos, and challenges on my Instagram, so come find me there!
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I’ve partnered with professional photographer Elizabeth Buehring of foodiegal.com to bring food photography workshops to Houston!
Our first one was held at Williams Sonoma in City Center and the next one is coming up on August 25th at Fill in the Blank Studio.
If you’re just getting started with food photography, this workshop will help you achieve professional-looking food photography even if you haven’t gotten out of Auto setting yet! Check us out at www.foodphotoworkshop.com! We still have some spots left for our upcoming workshop.
Apart from that, I’m hoping to get more involved in Houston food culture and food photography to serve this beautiful and diverse community!
