Meet Tia Alexander of Grace & Grit Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Alexander.

Tia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Having my first child at 40 was an amazing and scary experience, the high-risk label was pasted across my forehead and I was warned nothing will be the same.

Three months after enjoying every waking moment with my beautiful healthy baby boy I stared into the mirror and the reflection that looked back at me left me lost.

I tried to make peace with the remaining 40+ pounds, I reasoned with myself this is what a mommy body looks like. In the end I realized I was walking in a fog and allowing my disappointment with my body to dampen the light I put back into the world. So I  committed to take the best care of myself so I could be my best self for others.

I strongly believe that fitness should be accessible to everyone regardless of age, physical limitations or mental strongholds. I partner with my clients and guide them to success through a process of accountability, community building and individualized strategies.

I chose to be a Health and Wellness Coach because I’ve been through challenges, I’ve overcome obstacles and I want to share that knowledge. I didn’t do it on my own, I was surrounded by motivational people, influences, books, videos, and most important I am grounded in the Bible. All of this has collated into a knowledge and skill set, that I believe is my calling to share with others and the world.

Specific to my passion for Mature Adult Fitness, I noticed that my mature adults often decided they were not capable before even trying. Many programs offered, did not provide challenge for growth. I saw a gap that was a perfect fit for what I have to offer.

Has it been a smooth road?
In my opinion, two of the most challenging life journeys to take, are Fitness & Entrepreneurship. In my case, I have gone after both. There are amazing peaks and long lonely valleys. The valleys are what remind me that I am walking in my passion. Even on the driest most desolate days I just can’t see myself doing anything else.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Grace & Grit Fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am most proud of the relationship I have with each of my clients, I believe in them and they believe in me! We harness the power of two or more!! We get after our goals.

As the head trainer and owner of Grace & Grit Fitness, I do a litmus test constantly. To ensure we are in-line with our mission to make Health, Wellness and Fitness accessible to everyone. Here are just a few of our current programs and partnerships:

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love most about our city is the diversity and our Houstonian pride. I would say the100+ degrees days wrapped in humidity are on my least list, however a glass ½ full type of girl I am reminded the humidity has been great for preserving youthful skin. 😊
