Meet Timothy Weeks of C.Link Cable and Construction in Pearland Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Weeks .

Thanks for sharing your story with us Timothy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was 18 years old visiting my brother in the United Kingdom. He was in the telecom in the US Air Force. He asked me to come visit he was homesick. Who could say no to there Military Brother and UK for a nice long visit?

My Brother Raymond Weeks got me started in this business. by taking me on AF Base on in Kimbolton UK (Spelling may be off) to see what he did for the AF. I took a strong interest but I was an Artist/Painter before I left for the UK. Once I came back this company heard of me and heard I was a hard worker Hoffman Communications, he offered me a job paying 12 dollars per hour (At the time I thought the guy was stupid for offering so much for no experience, but I Happily took the Winter job because painting slows in the winter. I did not enjoy that venture even know the money was good the management was not so much. so once the project was finished I gave my 2-week notice and went back to painting.

Next Winter season came up and another offer came by word of mouth hey Weeks is a Hard worker you should hire him. So again I was offered 12 dollars per hour I am the man I have to go do this. So this time it was with South Communications, This time around I loved it. We worked for TOYOTA, all over the US. the new AS400 System came in and needed structured cabling (Cat 3 and Cat 4) was the old style and Twin Ax, IBM Type 1 and 2, were the primary sources for transferring data in a large corporate setting. The new CAT on the block was Category 5 cable, Boy it was hot and it was happening. The late 80s and early 90s was the time to be in structured cabling.

I ended up staying for about 1.5 years, then shortly later became manager at DCM Tech. Traveling across the starts wiring up many community hospitals with the new cat 5 cabling,Later then Moved to SystemNET as 1 of the 3 founders, then decided to go on my own and I opened up PC CABLE as the Founder, that was going really well but I was a kid made some mistakes and had to sell out several years later. Then on April 19, 1999, I officially opened Cable Link Technology, after learni9ng many sides of the business and how to be an adult and owner a husband and a dad all at the same time. My mother was a good Hard worker Operator at a Plant Fire Fighter and a Painter on the side to support our family. My mother always told me to Learn what everyone did around you and you can become anything you wish. So with that advice, I did do as she said and I always moved up swiftly into management and to Entrepreneurship. To this date, I still push all of my team to learn everyone’s job around them so they too can become more than a stagnant employee but have the opportunity to be more through there own efforts and accomplishments.

I now have been in cabling for 30 years and in the business of Technology well over 25 years. C.Link Construction Division started in about 2005 heavy. C.Link has a very quality based Construction Division that has a focus on a total remodel of homes Kitchen and restroom flooring painting siding decks fences stonework and much more just about anything you can dream up we will build it and add to the dream. The company was started with only $2000.00 in my pocket total. The Teams and I have built this over the years and we have earned around $20,000,000.00 over the past 18 years. Proud to have started small and grown at a pace that survives the times.

We have had some really bad years, we have had internal theft of over 700K Embezzlement, Bad contractors failed to pay out few hundred thousand, and day to day hurdles to overcome. Allowing your team to shine on there own has been my best lesson and my worst, it is truly a catch 20/20 C.Link Cable and Construction at its best, For Hire.
Never given only earned.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Was never a “Smooth Road”. We had Credit line issues, trying to get credit as a new business was a tough element in this industry.

We have electrical contractors not pay us for good work done. They got paid and changed their names. Back in the day electrical contractors got the contracts and we had to fall under their scheduled Scope of Work, Data was new to the Corporate America, Low Voltage was not understood by anyone but the big companies. Telecom / Structured Cabling / Low Voltage Services was not identified as its own industry as it is today.

We have been trough at least 4 downfalls in our history of the market, Enron being a large one, oil and gas down, stock markets down all of these hurt our industry. Education Bonds, Hospitals and even our Health Insurance affect our industry. Large 5-year embezzlement over 700k just about took me to ZERO, had to default and move out of my 12-year office that I was purchasing for over 8 years. LOST LOST LOST.

Due to the theft, I lost employees that were on my Payroll for over 10 to 12 years. We had a bad estimator that closed a deal and left out over 100K in materials and labor on an education project. I had to pay out of pocket to survive. Yes, we have had a bumpy past but that builds character and strength.
