Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Rix.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hello, thank you for visiting Better Path Family Counseling and Consulting, PLLC. As our sessions will not be focused on me, of course, I wanted to take time to share a little about who I am. Gone are the days when you go see your therapist/counselor/life coach and you know little to nothing about their life and who they are. I beleive that it is healthy to know a little about the professional you will be sharing the delicate aspects of your life with. Knowing a little bit more about your mental healthcare provider helps to break the ice, so to speak, and lets you know we are all human with life experiences, challenges, hard falls, and triumphant victories. As owner of Better Path Family Counseling and Consulting, I want you to know I care very much about you and your family’s need and am passionate about what I do daily as a therapist, counselor, and coach.
About Me Professionally:
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I graduated in 2006 with a Masters of Human Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (4.0 GPA)
I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Foods and Nutrition
I have 12 years experience in the field of mental health, therapy, and the social sciences/services
My private practice was established in 2011
I have a natural love for humanity and a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families
About Me Personally:
My husband Jeff and I were both married previously, and God lead us to meet one another post our divorces. We began our lives together and have found that life is alot more fufilling and rich when you are partnered with someone who is willing to continue to work on themselves and realizes growth and development are never ending concepts. So as for Jeff and I there is no looking back for us. We live by the motto of Better Path, which is, ” Progress Over Perfection.” We are mutally focused higher in life, career, parenting, our faith, and our health. He has one child and I have two. We are true example of a happily remarried couple, an interracial couple, a co-parenting with the ex spouses couple, and a blended/step- parenting family.
I love volunteering, spending time with my family, researching, liesurely reading, attending church, writinng music, singing, and traveling.
I love to workout and try my best to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Why Am I Passionate About Therapy, Counseling, and Coaching?
What led me into this line of work was my own past trauma and abuse I faced as a child and adolescent against my own will. In my late teens I realized I wanted to help others overcome struggles, trauma, losses, and hardships in life, as I was navigating through mine and learning how to overcome my own. Now lets fast forward to present day. My desire is to professionally assist you and your loved ones in metaphorically turning your misfortune into a great fortune, and your losses into substantial gains that only you can fully understand and appreciate when it’s all said and done becasue you will be the one looking back say, “I did it! I made it to the other side of the mountain!” It takes work, but you can do it. That change you desire begins with you. Say good bye to your old way of living, shift out of your old ways of approaching life, discover your strength, and begin your Better Path Today!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I addressed this in the previous question.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

Troubled home life. I was abused and left the home around age 15. I got pregnant t 16. Child was basically abandoned by her father but I held it together for my daughter and began to take life even more seriously. I graduated high school early. Enrolled in college. Received my bachelors degree at age 20, went to graduate school for Marriage and Family Therapy becasue I wanted to help others since my family situation was not so healthy, but I also wanted to learn the skills needed to have a successful family one day. I graduated with my masters degree just 1 month shy of my 22nd birthday. I have been in the field of mental health since then. I am passionate about what I do for a living and still find joy, purpose and meaning in it everyday. I truly do fill fulfilled in my career.
