Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom & Beth Pearson.
Ten years ago, in Freeport, Texas Tom was crafting and installing cabinets for homeowners while Beth was teaching at an Elementary school. One day while driving home from an out of town meeting, Tom took notice of a thriving housing/remodeling market and decided to capitalize on the opportunity. In short, he called his wife who was just about to extend her contract as a teacher and pitched his idea of moving to Montgomery County and starting a business selling wood. Although skeptical, the Pearson’s embraced the new adventure, took a leap of faith. Two short months later they opened the doors to Precision Interior Products (PIP).
As with most new small business’, the Pearson’s opened PIP with a “staff” of TWO. Beth, who had forgone her teaching career was handling all internal operations while Tom was pushing for sales and when necessary loading customers trucks and making deliveries.
Although the word was out, business was slow. After what felt like exhausting every effort to increase sales, The Pearson’s turned to reconnecting with their faith while continuing to foster relationships with local builders. Not giving up on their dreams, The Pearson’s put in the proverbial blood, sweat and tears and before long, PIP took off in the Montgomery County area.
Fast forward 10 years, PIP is now providing custom trim and moldings to The Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville and Rosharon areas with a team of 18.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not a smooth road. Starting a business in this industry where there is a lot of big-box competition is tough. Coming in as a “newbie” makes it a bit more challenging because you need to not only develop your customer base but also gain the trust of builders that will potentially be relying on you to build a significant amount of homes.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Precision Interior Products. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Precision Interior Products is a uniquely outfitted distribution facility providing an extensive selection of top quality, custom interior materials at the most competitive prices. For a lack of better words, we sell wood.
We provide options for custom moldings, trim, corbels, post and a variety of plywood and hardwood. If you need it on the inside of your home we have it; doors, hardware windows and more.
Outside of our unique selections, PIP is known for striving to provide an atmosphere that encourages Faith and family while providing first class customer service and that is felt by every person that walks through our doors.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are really looking forward to increasing the overall awareness and growth of Precision Interior Products. Although we have a loyal customer base and have had a great run over the past 10 years, we tend to be the best-hidden treasure in each of our areas.
Growth … for employees and the organization. Employee retention and well-being is always top of mind so we want to continue to mindful of ways to allow our team to experience personal growth from whichever perspective is important to them.
When your team is being fulfilled, all business aspects tend to benefit; that could lead to PIP #5… you just never know.
