Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Frye.
Tonya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from New Orleans, but Houston is definitely home for me. My husband, John Frye and I have nine children and four grandchildren who are spoiled and loved on every time Yaya is around. I serve as Executive Director of Get Together Northwest (Houston) as well as Director of Business Development for Maverick Fire & Safety, which my husband co-owns with his partner, Chris Fowler.
I’ve had the pleasure of connecting and exploring different fields, but my passion and trajectory has always been geared towards helping others. Whether it be my professional or personal life, I thrive on linking and developing positive relationships within every circle of my community. To serve is to share the best part of who we are. I relish the opportunity to grow and learn with all those around me.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not. Raising children, spoiling grandbabies, starting a business, running a nonprofit, and being an active member of my community have all proven difficult at times. Just juggling work and family can be a struggle. But aren’t those the best experiences in life? All of my personal and professional struggles have led to so many blessings. Each gave me experience and an invaluable education. It’s all led to who I am today. No regrets.

Get Together Northwest Houston is a nonprofit organization that brings together business people with thoroughly vetted local Christ-centered ministries and gives those in business the opportunity to share their knowledge, time, resources, contacts, and expertise to help meet the needs of these non-profit organizations.
Each year we choose between 12-14 Partner Ministries that we promote by focusing on what they do and help to meet their needs. Get Together Northwest Houston hosts monthly NetCaring™ lunches, quarterly networking events as well as training intensives for local nonprofits and small businesses.
I serve as Get Together Northwest Houston’s Executive Director. My focus is in connecting business leaders with local serve opportunities and development training for nonprofit leaders.
What sets Get Together Northwest Houston apart is the inclusivity and the ability to bring people together that wouldn’t have otherwise connected. An example would be a business leader working with a small nonprofit on a marketing campaign to help them to build their brand. This not only serves to bring great value to the nonprofit but also to the business leader allowing them to enrich and strengthen their community. It’s mutually beneficial and like Cause Marketing on steroids.
