Today we’d like to introduce you to Cali Leigha.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started as a child helping my mother with her hair because she dislocated her elbow. From then on, I wanted to do everyone’s hair.
I tried enrolling in the cosmetology course in high school and never could get in.
I went to a four-year college and only lasted a year and realized cosmetology school was where I wanted to be.
Thinking cosmetology would be just a “side hustle” I was ready to enroll.
Same day, I enrolled in Franklin Beauty school, I found out I was pregnant which discouraged me at first but my daughter gave me the push no one else could.
With support from my family, I graduated and continued doing hair and taught myself makeup along the way.
I started in a shop with absolutely no clients and no transportation.
Loving what I do and loving the way I make people feel kept me going.
I’ve been in the hair game for six years now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a master stylist that works with all hair types and servicewomen, children and men as well. I am also a professional makeup artist, once worked for MAC Cosmetics. My shop is a one-stop shop! Currently working on my own product line.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mother has been a BIG inspiration in my life. She is a strong goal-oriented woman. I’ve watched life throw obstacles in her way and I’ve watched her conquer them all as a single mother to three girls. Now, as a mother, I understand her struggles and thanks to her I know that I can conquer all.
