Meet Trailblazer Daniela Sumbera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Sumbera.

Daniela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, I always knew I wanted to make a difference, both in my community and in the lives of others. After high school, I went on to earn a Business Degree from the University of Houston. My college years reinforced my desire to serve others, and also ignited my interest in becoming an entrepreneur. After college, becoming a real estate consultant was a perfect fit for me. My faith helped give me the courage to start my own business and I’m very proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish. As part of my commitment to serve, I am on the Agent Leadership Council at Keller Williams Northeast, and I am also the 2019 Chair for HAR Lake Houston Networking Group after serving as Co-chair this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path has been full of challenges and also amazing, positive experiences. Experience has given me some hard lessons and many hard won achievements. I love working with all types of people and personalities. Some transactions have been incredibly smooth, while others have been more challenging. Real estate transactions involve a lot of time, money, and commitment for all those involved, and people tend to have emotional responses that have many factors involved, not all of which I have control over, or sometimes knowledge of. I’ve definitely been in the the role of therapist, confidant and, most importantly, trusted advisor. I’m happy to be able to walk people through successful transactions. Many of my clients have become lifelong friends and refer their friends and acquaintances to me, which is the highest compliment.

Working with other agents in the business has taught me many lessons, including the right way and the wrong way to do business. I try to surround myself with positive people who are growth oriented and have a “can-do” attitude. I think this approach has made all the difference in my career. I also think it’s very important, for me personally, to continue to learn and study real estate so that I can be the best possible agent to all of my clients. The real estate industry is constantly changing, and staying on top of the market, legislation and industry trends allows me to serve my clients to the highest level possible. I really do believe in myself, and that allows others to believe in me too. You need to have lots of self-confidence in this business, and that comes from experience and expertise! If I had a motto for all real estate agents it would be: “be kind!”.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Sumbera Team at Keller Williams Northeast – what should we know?
I attribute my success in this tough business to a strong work ethic, determination, perseverance, and aligning myself with other people who have similar values. I have the opportunity to serve people in one of the most important financial and personal transactions of their lives. My clients trust me with a major investment, and I take that very seriously. I also have a tremendous passion for customer service. My main goal is to create an extraordinary experience for everyone when buying, selling, or investing in real estate. The Sumbera Team at Keller Williams Northeast understands that each home and client are unique and deserve a customized experience. It is our goal to make the home buying and selling experience effortless for our clients.

One of the key philosophies of The Sumbera Team is to always do the right thing, with the highest ethical integrity and total honesty. In addition, our goal is to provide the highest level of expertise. Buyers and sellers need more than a marketing expert. They need a real estate expert that has skill, who knows the market, how to price a home, and who has a complete and thorough understanding of real estate contracts, and the impact contract provisions will have on the buyer or seller.

Another key philosophy of The Sumbera Team is giving back to the community. Through our success, we have been able to fund local events, such as free haircuts for kids and bringing lunch to local emergency response teams as a thank you for their continued service. After Hurricane Harvey, our team brought meals to families in our community who had lost their homes and to those who were helping others to rebuild. In 2018, we participated in “Sprinkle Kindness Like it’s Confetti,” a project to perform random acts of kindness on behalf of our clients. We have also been able to donate funds to local charities such as Family Promise of Lake Houston.

Keller Williams shares our philosophy of giving back to the community and making a positive impact, and I often re-read our mission statement, which is: “To build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, lives worth living, experiences worth giving, and legacies worth leaving.” We have big client goals to achieve in 2019 and are committed to giving back even more next year!

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
The One Thing, by Gary Keller, is a great book that I have read over and over again. I spend a lot of time reading about real estate, both on websites and magazines such as Texas Realtor and Houston Realtor to stay abreast of market statistics, laws, and current market trends. I also make it a priority to attend a training event once a month that is related to real estate. Locally, I belong to the Lake Houston Chamber of Commerce, which is a phenomenal association to be part of. For my “me” time I have found the Beachbody app helpful to keep up my personal fitness so that I have the energy to give my all to my clients.
