Meet Trailblazer Mae Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mae Renee.

Mae, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is definitely not woven in a straight line and there are many more chapters to be written, but the beginning of my modeling journey goes a little something like this…

I moved from California to Houston when I was a teenager and started attending modeling school shortly thereafter and absolutely fell in LOVE with everything about modeling! The clothes, the makeup, taking amazing photos, strutting down the runway, EVERYTHING! I knew then that modeling was my calling and no matter what, this is what I was meant to do!

After taking some time off for school, I really hit the ground running with my modeling in 2017, and I haven’t stopped since! Although sometimes, it can get difficult juggling a full-time job, mommy duties, and a shooting schedule, I wouldn’t change a thing! I continue to be amazed at all the truly talented and incredibly beautiful people I have the honor to meet on each shoot, and how much I have grown as a model and a person in the few short years I have really put my focus into my passion, and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me next. 😊

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a super smooth road as each new project and phase of life presents its own challenges.
One struggle that I face is trying to juggle work, being a fulltime parent, and my shoot schedule. As much as I would love to shoot all day every day, I am not there… YET. But, of course, that is my ultimate goal!

Another struggle I continue to face is my ongoing battle with anxiety. Weird, right?! How can someone that loves being in front of the camera have anxiety? Oddly enough, I do, and modeling has helped me to push myself to grow and get out of my comfort zone time and time again and learn to live WITH my anxiety versus feeling like I am in a constant internal war with myself.

The advice I would give to anyone starting out on their journey would be to remember that is exactly what it is, a JOURNEY, not a race! It’s cliché I know, but you must crawl before you can run. Don’t let that discourage you! Everyone grows in their own way and in their own time, and each new journey is full of endless possibilities!! You cannot compare your success side by side with the success of others. Castles are not built in a day, and you have the stardust of the universe flowing through your veins😉YOU can do anything!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a Houston based Model, Actress, and Content Creator. I have done numerous types of shoots from Headshots to Milk baths to laying on the back of a Unicorn! I try to not limit myself to a specific type of shoot so I wouldn’t say I necessarily specialize in a single genre at the moment. I really try and bring the photographers vision to life! But my favorite styles are portraits and anything really out of the box.

I think the one thing I may be known for is my red hair, and totally shocking people when I tell them that I am Filipino hahaha

So far this year, what I am most proud of is being published multiple times before even getting halfway through 2019! The one thing that I feel sets me apart from others is my drive and my hunger. There have been numerous times where I could just have thrown in the towel, but every time I get a message that says how much of an inspiration I am and how much I am loved and supported on this journey, it makes it all worth it and it just makes me want to go harder to show all the women out there that no matter what your dream is, no matter when you start your journey, you got this!! You can be whoever you want to be!!

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Oh yes, without a doubt! I mean life is all about learning! There are a few experiences that I can think of that set me up for success in life later on down the road, but my mom was definitely a big contributor of helping me get where I am today.
