Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Elizabeth.
Tiffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In May 2016, I started my weight loss journey. I was 230 pounds and a single mom of a 1.5-year-old and a 5-year-old. I had been overweight my entire life, I had just gotten back from a family vacation where I had gained a lot more weight. I was done being like that. I started following some weight loss/fitness accounts on Instagram and started surrounding myself around a bunch of likeminded individuals online that I looked up to. People who were where I was and got to where I want to be.
I started with Keto originally but quickly started gaining weight. I realized it was the dairy that was doing it because I knew I wasn’t gaining weight eating meat and veggies. I eliminated the dairy which left me with a dairy-free gluten-free diet and the pounds started to melt off. I lost 30 pounds in the first few months. With that, I also started at-home workouts. Whatever the workout was, it didn’t matter, I made sure I did 30 minutes every 5-7 days a week. On the weekends, I either took a rest day or did a yoga day to keep in my routine. I had never worked out before so it was extremely difficult but I modified the ones I couldn’t do and did my best.
As time went on, I would hit weight loss stalls that would last for months so I would need to change things up. In November of 2017, I developed my 21 Day Meal Plan which I started to follow. Lean meats, veggies, berries, grains, etc. I lost 11 pounds in 21 days. I was pounds away from my goal weight of 135!
After I had lost almost all of my weight (lowest was 137), I was left with a ton of excess skin. The problem with excess skin is that it tricks your mind into still thinking you’re obese. It’s really hard to move on with your weight loss when you’re stuck with the reminders every day. So, I decided to get skin removal surgery. Along with skin removal surgery, I decided to get breast implants as I was left with zero breast tissue and only a tiny piece of excess skin on the bottom. I was extremely self-conscious about it and uncomfortable even standing in the mirror alone.
Unfortunately a couple of days after waking up from my tummy tuck surgery which I had spent months preparing for, I discovered I was botched. I was going through a horrendous recovery and in total and complete agony and it was for nothing.
The surgeon that I originally went to was in total and complete denial and kept saying I looked perfect and he was very proud of his work. So, at 5.5 months post-op, I consulted with 2 other pro surgeons. Both of which told me that not only did I need a revision, I needed a full second tummy tuck which is extremely rare (pretty much never happens). So, I scheduled my second surgery.
That recovery of that surgery was a breeze. I woke up in basically no pain and took barely any pain killers. Night and day recovery.
I am now working on losing the last 10 or so pounds gained after surgery (very normal to gain after surgery) to get back into the 140s where I am most comfortable.
Losing and maintaining weight are two completely different games and equally as challenging. It’s been an adventure for sure but I am confident now that I know exactly what to do to keep this weight off for life! 🙂
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t want to say smooth, it’s been difficult for sure but in some ways easier and less complicated than I thought. The one thing people don’t tell you is that once you lose the weight, you’ll spend the rest of your life trying to keep it off. Never thought of that prior! Hah! After you lose weight, you lose the motivation so it’s easy for the pounds to creep back up and you have to fight to stay in control.
My advice would be to not overthink it. You don’t need to be zero carbs. You don’t have to starve. You don’t have to drink 5 gallons of water and drink weird shakes or teas. You don’t have to run 5 miles a day. You have to change your lifestyle, that’s what it’s all about. Enjoying the journey and making it fun because you’ll be doing it for life. Do the workouts you love, not the ones you hate. Eat the healthier foods you love, not the ones that make your stomach turn. Make it fun!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about My Adventure to Fit – what should we know?
I have 1 brand with a few different things. The first thing is the 21 Day Meal Plan which is my guide to weight loss, meaning what worked for me. So, people can see exactly how I did it and make their own version of it for theirs. It’s a digital PDF and comes with a support group of over 35k women who have all connected, make lifelong friendships, etc. It’s really incredible to see.
I also recently started a supplement line which is booming called MPB Supps. It stands for Meal Plan Babe Supplements. The girls who are a part of the 21 Day Meal Plan call themselves meal plan babes so I dedicated the name to them. 🙂
It’s a line of clean, all-natural effective supplements for working out and a healthy lifestyle.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
To just start. Don’t focus on perfecting things in the beginning. Make things better as you go but don’t wait for things to be just the way you want them before you start. Start, produce revenue and then focusing on making it better.
