Today we’d like to introduce you to Trever Sherman.
Hi Trever, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey working as a federal government inspector, where I was on the front lines seeing homes after disasters and hearing real stories from homeowners. In that role, I also conducted quality control checks on completed work, and unfortunately, I often saw situations where contractors didn’t return to finish the job or the quality didn’t meet the standard families deserved.
Those experiences stayed with me. I knew that when the time came, I wanted to be part of the solution — not the problem. I wanted to build something rooted in trust, accountability, and real care for people.
Using the knowledge, relationships, and perspective I gained from that experience, I brought everything together to create a business focused on turning people’s dreams into reality. I’ve always been very detail-oriented, and with a strong military-influenced background in my family, discipline, integrity, and service have always been core values for me.
We began by working on our own investment projects — fix-and-flips and new construction builds — and through word of mouth, we quickly grew into larger projects. That’s when I realized there was an opportunity to serve not just our own investments, but other families and homeowners as well.
My goal has always been simple: to be one of the good contractors in an industry that truly needs them. I believe that if you want to change a system, you become part of it and raise the standard from within.
Customer service for me goes far beyond the basics. I treat every client like family, because I understand that a home isn’t just a project — it’s personal. And that mindset is what continues to drive where I am today and where I’m going next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road — and honestly, I don’t think any real journey ever is. Every path has challenges, and part of growth is paying close attention to the direction you’re going and learning along the way. Some roads may look smoother than others, but they all come with lessons.
One thing I’ve been intentional about is studying the industry closely. I read reviews about other companies — especially the negative ones — and I use that feedback as a guide for what not to do in my own business. Instead of ignoring those problems, I’ve tried to turn them into standards for how we operate, making sure our clients feel heard, respected, and taken care of from start to finish.
As we’ve progressed and completed major projects, momentum has started to build. Many of our opportunities now come from referrals — either from contractors who can’t handle projects at our scale or from real estate agents who have seen the quality of our work firsthand. They trust that we can deliver a high-quality result for their clients, and that trust has been a big part of our growth.
So while the road hasn’t been perfectly smooth, every challenge has helped strengthen the business, sharpen our standards, and position us for the next level.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sherman R.E. Properties, INC.?
What people should know about our business is that we are more than just a construction company — we’re a relationship-driven, detail-focused building partner.
We are a veteran-owned and VA-certified builder (Certification #09238), and that foundation of discipline, integrity, and service is built into everything we do. Whether we’re constructing a home from the ground up or transforming an interior space, we approach every project with precision and purpose.
While we handle everything house-related — new construction, full-scale remodels, additions, roofing, and major renovations — what truly sets us apart is how we serve our clients.
We specialize in guiding homeowners through the process in a way that feels clear, empowering, and collaborative. Many clients don’t just want someone to “do the work.” They want to understand their options. They want to be involved. They want confidence in every decision. That’s where we shine.
As someone deeply involved in the design process, I walk clients through every detail — from layout planning to finishes, textures, patterns, and materials. If that means going to retail stores together to select the perfect look, we do it. If it means asking ten extra questions to ensure the outcome matches their vision, we do that too.
We are known for taking our time. For not rushing the details. For asking the questions others don’t ask.
And brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the experience we create. Our reviews consistently reflect that we go above and beyond. We don’t just complete projects — we over-deliver. Sometimes that’s in the craftsmanship. Sometimes it’s in the communication. Sometimes it’s in the small, thoughtful extras we include as a thank you — whether that’s safety guidance, maintenance tips, or simply continuing the relationship long after the project is complete.
From my family to yours, that’s how we approach every job.
We’re not just building structures.
We’re building trust, long-term relationships, and homes that reflect the people who live in them.
What’s next?
I have big plans for the future — and they go far beyond construction.
As the business continues to grow, one of my biggest goals is to expand our impact into the community, especially within local schools. I want to build real relationships with educators and administrators to understand what students truly need — whether that’s exposure, mentorship, resources, or opportunity.
There are a lot of talented young people who just haven’t been introduced to what’s possible.
I plan to bring together professionals from different industries — construction, technology, AI, skilled trades, entrepreneurship — and create opportunities for students to see careers they may have never considered. Not just talking about it once, but being present consistently. Showing them what we do in real life. Letting them step onto job sites. Teaching them how businesses are built. Expanding their vision beyond what they see on television or social media.
I’m especially passionate about helping young men and young women develop confidence, discipline, and direction. If there are gaps in mentorship, I want to help fill them. If there are students who need guidance toward AI-resistant careers or hands-on skilled trades, I want to expose them to that early.
In the future, I also envision scholarship programs for deserving students — not just as a one-time donation, but as an ongoing initiative tied to real mentorship and real opportunity.
This isn’t about writing a check and saying we gave back. It’s about showing up regularly. Being consistent. Creating impact that lasts.
I believe we can build more than homes — we can build futures.
And I’m looking forward to partnering with others who share that vision. If someone reading this feels aligned with that mission, I’d say let’s connect. Let’s make a difference together. Let’s create something that outlives us.
