Meet Trey Willis of The Talent House in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Willis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Talent House started in a small space with a big vision. We opened in 2013 with just two instructors in a small house with four teaching rooms. We quickly gained respect in the community and had to hire more instructors to accommodate the amount of new students we were getting. After a couple of years, we maxed out our available space and converted the back patio into three additional rooms. By this time, last year, we had completely filled up the seven rooms and had a waiting list of new students wanting to get in. In June 2018, we moved into a new facility that has more room, a lot of history, and a lot of character. We now have 14 incredible instructors, 10 teaching rooms, and plans to add two more rooms in the near future.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a great ride so far! God has really blessed me and the business, and I’m excited to see what this next chapter brings. I would say the biggest challenge has been finding the right instructors. Quality has always been my top focus. I think that has contributed to our success. We set the bar high from the beginning, and that is never something I want to compromise on. The amount of talent in our teaching staff is unparalleled!

The Talent House – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Talent House offers private music lessons for many different instruments, styles, ages, and experience levels. Our goal is to educate and inspire the next generation of musicians and bring the highest quality instruction while maintaining a fun, laid-back atmosphere. All of our lessons are one on one, 30 minutes long, and meet once per week.

When you enter the doors of The Talent House, you are greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile. We love music and we love people. Our passion for music and life is contagious to everyone who walks through our doors. We believe that atmosphere inspires creativity. We have a truly unique space here. We have been very intentional about creating a vibe that is inspiring to learn and create in along with a waiting room that is peaceful and relaxing for parents and family. We also have a live feed in the waiting room where you can view the lessons in real time. Our teaching staff is incredible; the level of talent and experience in our staff is something truly special.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I have always defined success by happiness. I want to do something I love, something I’m passionate about. I’ve never personally been driven by money or position. God gave me a gift, and I want to use that gift. When I’m playing, teaching, performing, writing, or recording music, I feel like I’m doing what I was put on this earth to do. I feel joy; I feel peace. That’s success to me. Music has been such a big part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without it. It’s gotten me through some dark times. I’m extremely grateful to be doing something I love and to inspire and pass the gift of music on to others.
