Today we’d like to introduce you to Tricia and Alexandra Zody.
Tricia and Alexandra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an artist and entrepreneur at heart, and my daughter is an accomplished floral designer. When she moved back to Sugar Land we started looking into opening a florist. We were excited about offering custom floral designs that were unique and artistic, filling what we identified as a void here in Sugar Land. We also had an idea to create a space where family, friends, co-workers…anybody…could gather and enjoy a fun, relaxing time together (BYOB) while getting step-by-step instructions on creating a floral design to take home. The Flower Bar was born, and we opened our doors in Sugar Land as a custom florist and Flower Bar on November 1st, 2016. Deep Roots TX has quickly become all the buzz in Sugar Land, Katy, Richmond, Pearland…and now Houston. We’ve just hit our 6 month mark and are already adding more days and times to our Flower Bar schedule. This Mother/Daughter team is thriving, thanks to this amazing community.
Has it been a smooth road?
Surprisingly, things have gone relatively smooth. We have found, though, that some changes or adjustments needed to be made along the way. But I’d say we’re figuring things out without too much struggle. There’s always a learning curve, but our awesome clientele has allowed us to morph as needed.

Deep Roots TX is a boutique, custom-order florist. We take a more artistic approach to all of our floral designs, using more unusual flowers than you may be used to. We love to WOW our customers with stunning arrangements. We source our flowers directly from Holland, as well as farms in the U.S. and around the globe.
We are also home to the Flower Bar, which we are probably most known for. At the Flower Bar you are given step-by-step instructions to create your own arrangement to take home. It’s BYOB and such a fun gathering place for friends, family, co-workers for any type of celebration you can think of.
Our individual and unique artistry comes out in our floral designs, and I think that sets us apart from others. We are not a traditional florist by any stretch, and we are proud of that.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a perfect place to open a florist! People love fresh flowers for their events, or just for their home. If you offer something unique, high quality, and a fair value, then the opportunities are endless. I believe the people in our community value high quality products and services.
