Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyanna Davis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
While working as a bartender for years, I noticed that many customers were in need of a personal bartender for events. So as a single mom working a full-time job and recovering from an abusive relationship, I decided it was time for me to grow and be my own boss. It helped me heal in so many ways. Bring your own bartender wasn’t just something that happened overnight. I always knew that I wanted to own a business but with so many talents I had to find what worked best for me and what would stick around for many years. I’ve met some amazing people throughout this year of working events. I plan on expanding my business and growing so that this becomes my career. I love what I do and it allows me to be social and to show other single moms that there are so many opportunities out here to be successful. Never be afraid to go for your dream even if someone has the same idea as you.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth, I’ve had many many nights and days where I just wanted to give up. With the positive people in your life helping you guide the way, it becomes easier. Dealing with sleepless nights, working full time, and being a mother, I don’t expect it to always be smooth but I know that anything is possible if you have faith in yourself.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Bring your own bartender is a mobile bartending business specializing in handmade signature cocktails made specially for your event. I create creative cocktails and drink names based on the theme of your event. For example, I worked a dental graduation event and their drinking station was called “THE NUMBING STATION” so I created drinks names like “ANESTHESIA”, “HOLY MOLAR” & “PAINKILLER” and that’s what makes the event fun. Listening to customers talk about a specific drink the entire night and the next day let’s me know that I’m doing my job and that’s what makes me most happy.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been very social, outgoing, the class clown and super friendly. My friends are always telling me “you know everyone”, but I literally know EVERYONE. When I’m out at events I’m meeting people, mingling, and talking, I’m never in the corner of the room, I’m introducing myself, making everyone feel comfortable and to step out of their comfort zone. I can honestly say I get along with most and for that, I’ll forever have friends.
