Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyla-Simone Crayton.
Tyla-Simone, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was eight years old, I created my first sauce in my Brooklyn home (at the time) with the help of my Mother since my favorite wing place closed down. In 2013, I moved to Houston Texas to start a new life with my Mother and Aunt. It wasn’t until 2018 that I finally convinced my Mom to help me bottle my sauce to share with the world. In October of that same year, I found a co-packer and we were able to partner with him to make my sauce a more healthier condiment choice. My sauce is high-fructose corn syrup free and gluten-free. It was my goal to be health-conscious because my Mom had a stroke back in 2016. Fast forward to today, I’ve gone viral on so many social media platforms( Now This, Inside Edison, In the know money, etc.) I’ve been featured on almost all networks (ABC, FOX, NBC, etc). As well as my product being sold on my website www.siennasauce.com, in various Texas based supermarkets and finer goods specialty stores and I have over 90 distributors across the US. This has been a great journey and being a CEO at the age of 15 is beyond a blessing. I’m just getting started.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is a condiments company. In my business, I have a Customer Relations Manager that deals directly with filament and overseeing distribution, ad campaigns, marketing, and finding stores. I also have a distribution program with over 90 distributors around the country. My products are sold Texas based companies (Specs, Harvest Market, B&W Meat Company, Pyburns, Bean Here coffee shop, John Henry store), and three local stores in Mississippi. I very proud of my hard-working team. Collectively, we have made strides in such a short period of time. My sauce is not only good but it’s also good for you. We are destined to dominate the condiments industry.
Has it been a smooth road?
Fulfillment has been a bit of a hurdle to get over. Also, dealing with overhead cost, damaged packages, customer service needs and keeping up with advertising/marketing. But my biggest struggle has been getting my products in stores.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like the network is very good and everyone knows somebody. This is very important because it allows me to meet new people who help shape me as a young CEO and of course it helps me get my products into everyone’s home.
