Meet Ubalda Olea of Olea’s Therapeutic Massage in Friendswood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ubalda Olea.

Ubalda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in business for the past four years. The path to this success has been hard. I did not know I had the skill to help people and that I would be where I am now. This success is thanks to the Lord who has been by my side every step and continues to send the people that need the therapy I provide. Many of my clients tell me that I have healing hands but I know that is the Lord using me as a vessel to help others. The advertising that I provide is the work I perform to the clients who come with ailments such as sciatic discomfort, migraines, plantar fasciitis and rotator cuff problems to name a few. Some of my clientele has been with me since I started the business and they are not just a one-time client. They are on a repeat session schedule. I strive to learn more about the therapies I can use to help the client that walks in to my business.

As I mentioned the journey has been hard and started when I came to this country at the age of 14. I am an immigrant from Mexico City. My dream had always been going to college but it became harder because I did not know the language and my legal status. As the years passed I became a legal resident and decided to enroll in college but at that time I had children already and many times especially women see it more difficult to continue a higher education. Working full time, going to college full time and being a mother of four made the path much harder. With our creator being my strength and provider in all my needs has made my journey more bearable to continue. Also, my children have being the focus for me to be able to achieve the degrees I have. I graduated high school in the top 10% with very limited English but many of my instructors were there helping me do better every day and encouraged me that I could be someone in life. Also, I have achieved several degrees thanks to the Lord and the support of my children since their young age. They helped me by being independent in all their learning and daily chores at home. They are my pride and continue to be my motivation in continuing to become better. Graduated from Houston Community College with an A.A. with Honors. Obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Houston Clear Lake and a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in Curriculum and Instruction with Honors. Lastly, I have a certification as a Licensed Massage Therapist from Texas School of Massage. This last certification is the reason of starting my own business. I was a massage recipient for about one year and noticed that it helped improve my health because I had been ill for several years. What I was experiencing I wanted others to have the same experience I did.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I have experienced many obstacles but the Lord has given me strength and has been next to me every step of the journey.

Olea’s Therapeutic Massage – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is about providing massage therapy. I specialize in Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal massage, among others. I am proud of as a company that my clientele trust me and see me as a family member. What sets me apart from other companies is that I see massage therapy as a way of helping our health naturally and I try to help every person that comes into my office by paying attention to their needs.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There are many moments that make me proud but the proudest is that the Lord has given me a skill to help people feel less stressed and better physically by providing them massage therapy.
