Meet Valerie Hardy of She Prevails Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Hardy.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Valerie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2015 I went through a severe depression. I was in a place where I couldn’t be around anyone, I couldn’t play with my kids, and leaving the house was a no go for me. I went to Psychiatrist and Therapist and nothing worked. I changed medication 5 different times and each had their own side effects. At that time I realized I needed to help myself. I started my photography business that year. I had no idea what I was doing; I fell into it head first, thus Val Hardy Photography was born. A year later I re-branded myself because I felt my business needed to be led by God.

It took me months to get everything together, but She Prevails Photography was born then. I had been taking pictures all around Houston and making customers happy. A year after that I branched off to open She Prevails Designs and my daughter’s side of the company called Giselle’s Jewels. I’m literally a Jill (not Jack) of all trades. We take pictures, make invitations, logos and other digitals, make shirts, fur slides. pop phone stands, and all kinds of custom items.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In business, you have plenty of ups and downs. I got the point with Val Hardy Photography that I wasn’t keeping track of my income and my spending. I was working just to work. I enjoyed my work, but I didn’t have the business side under control. With my rebrand, I did research and made spreadsheets and utilized my site more.

She Prevails Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’ve grown my company to branch off into more than just one company and I’m not done. I added my daughter into my business because she wanted to learn what mommy was doing at just the age of 5. We do all photography, snap chat filters, all digital design (except websites), invitations, Jeweled Phone grips, Custom t-shirts, furslides, fanny packs, and plenty of other things.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My ultimate goal is to be able to replace my income from my 8-5 job with my She Prevails Company. Once I do that, I want to be able to help others to start their own businesses and live there dreams. I define success as being able to wake up and spend time with my kids and not have to work for someone else.
