Meet Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Venice.

Venice, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2014, as a 23-year-old living in San Antonio, I decided to publicize to the world that not only did I braid hair but I’d been doing so since I was eight years old, which was unbelievable to most. I knew that I had the talent but didn’t have many resources. I braided my family and friend’s hair, mostly for free, hoping it would attract clients and it did just that.

Later that year, I moved to Houston when a friend created an Instagram account and posted a few pictures I had taken. What seemed to be a very simple act impacted my brand in a major way, changing the trajectory of my life by way of Venice Braids.

In 2015, I searched until I found a salon home. Later that year, I consulted with the owners about building a team of braiders, in which they agreed that it would be a great idea. I shared a post on Instagram that I was looking to hire experienced braiders. A few ladies reached out, I interviewed them, scheduled training and we’ve been growing together ever since. My team and I later ventured off from our salon family to a personal suite in 2018.

I had no inkling of what I was doing or what direction my personal and business life was headed, I just knew the path I was on felt good, so I followed my gut mostly. I’ve always loved educating, so I decided to offer 1-on-1 braiding courses while educating myself. I also thought it would be cool to travel to different cities to braid. So, then I began advertising posts with random cities and traveled to those places. I did whatever I wanted to do in those moments with no resistance.

I am forever grateful to my family, friends, my team, clients, and followers for their continued support. The rest is the future!
