Meet Vianney Strick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vianney Strick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Vianney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my YouTube channel when I was a senior at Texas State University. While I was working on my degree in Mass Communications Electronic Media, I took an internship at Mega TV, a local Houston television station. I loved being in front of the camera and I finally had the ability to entertain an audience. Eventually, I wanted more creative control; so at the beginning of my senior year in college, I started my beauty channel on YouTube.

I’ve always loved anything in beauty and makeup, and many always asked me to teach them. So I decided to combine my two passions; broadcasting and beauty. Shortly after I began my channel, I noticed how much my videos truly impacted others. Some may say, “it’s just makeup”, but in my eyes, I have built a community of women and men of all ages that share similar passions. My subscribers are the most amazing people and they motivate me to keep on creating content.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not always been a smooth road. There is nothing worse than working hard on a video only for people to either not like it, or simply not even view it. In the beginning, it used to concern me, but now I shift my focus on the people that do enjoy my content.

One of the hardest struggles has been and still is hate comments. You truly don’t know what that is like until you put yourself out there on the internet. I have been made aware of insecurities that I didn’t even know I had before I was on it. But unfortunately, that comes with the territory. I’m sure I will have many more struggles in the future, but I always learn from them. Being on the internet has definitely made me a stronger person and I will always be grateful for that.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My YouTube channel mainly consists of; makeup tutorials, product reviews, fashion videos and travel vlogs. I love filming tutorials because it reminds me of why I started my channel in the first place; to teach and entertain anybody who loves makeup as much as I do. I want any person that comes across my channel to know that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on products to look fabulous and feel confident. With that being said, I always preach that you don’t NEED makeup to feel pretty, but it’s always fun to play with.

I also love reviewing products because my subscribers value my option and it helps them decide if they should buy a product or not. I can confidently say that my reviews have saved people a lot of time and money. Something that I love emphasizing is that you don’t need expensive makeup to look your best. Most of my channel is about drugstore makeup because I don’t want my audience to break the bank when they don’t have to. And any other videos and vlogs are to share a little bit about my life. I love to travel and I like sharing my experiences with others.

Because of my channel’s success, I was able to collaborate with Delarza Cosmetics to create my own a makeup line. I curated a collection of false lashes, lip liners and liquid lipsticks to sell to my audience. Moments like these make me realize how truly blessed I am. I am the proudest of the community that I have built. There is no discrimination and everyone is welcome. I know so many of my subscribers by name and keep in contact with them. They are more than just subscribers, they are truly my friends.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I wouldn’t be anywhere without my parents, my fiancé or my friends. My family as been there for me since the very beginning. Always supporting me, celebrating my successes and picking me up when I am down. My mother is truly my number one fan. I wouldn’t have this success without my mom, dad or brother.

Funnily enough, it was my financé that pushed me to start my channel. I remember always talking about maybe filming a few videos and starting a channel but I never did. It seemed a little impossible and scary at the time, putting yourself out there like that, but when he bought me my first camera, I knew if I didn’t at least try, I would always wonder what could’ve happened. I’m incredibly thankful that he pushed me towards something he knew I wanted and saw my potential before I did. Since I started my channel during college, my friends were my biggest cheerleaders. To this day, I still run video ideas through them. Everything in my makeup collaboration was vetted and approved by them.
