Meet Victor Vega of Victorios09 Beats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Vega.

Hi Victor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My path to producing music began in 2020. I was in the sixth grade when my parents bought a home recording set up. It contained an audio interface, headphones and microphone. I first started mixing and matching loop presets on Ableton. The city was on lock down due to the pandemic, so I had a lot of time to experiment with the my audio software at home. One day when my dad came home, I showed him one of my new creations. He couldn’t believe I was creating drum patterns, so I had to show him. Since then, I’ve been continuing to learn and get better. Aside from watching online tutorials I’ve also learned and have been helped by a few local mentors. Slow Life of Lucid Vivid Dreams, Sanman & Badchild of No Sleeps Productions and Fred Beezy have all contributed to my growth as an artist. Some contributed gear and others time in showing me their methods. In the short time that I have been making music I’ve had the opportunity to not only produce beats for but also record several local artists. All this and I’m just getting started.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been bumps on my path of music. I once entered into a beat battle battle where the producers are given the same sample and have an hour to produce a beat. I couldn’t come up with anything. It taught me to continue practicing and learning. Overall things are going really well. Right now, things are good. I am currently an 8th grader at Frank Black middle school. I have the support of my family and music is already paying off.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I produce hip-hop & rap music. I also record, mostly doing vocal tracking. I am working on learning mixing and mastering. As of last year, I am a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers). I have been growing my catalog slowly but surely. In 2022 a song I produced was officially released. ‘No Game’ by A.B Raps produced by myself is available on all streaming platforms. I also write lyrics and performed at White Oak Music Hall in October last year. This year more records will be added to my portfolio as I am working with A.B Raps & Spaceman Apollo of Crash Landing and M$G just to name a few. I am currently working on a compilation featuring many of these amazing local artists and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Music makes me happy. Music is my safe place. Music helps me escape life’s daily troubles. Music eases my mind after a long day at school. Music drowns out parents arguing. Music is like therapy. It’s a way to express yourself with different variations of sound. Art is also a big part of what makes me happy. I love to draw but I haven’t pushed it as much as music.
