Today we’d like to introduce you to Violeta Brown.
Violeta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It was a long path to discovering what my life’s mission was, I have so many diplomas in so many different fields… I have a bachelor’s teacher degree, vet technician, business manager, interior designer… but nothing made me feel satisfied more than photography. Photography is the passion of my life.
Only photography can Freeze a Moment in Time. My photography journey started in 2007 when, one morning, I woke up and decided to become a photographer. Within a week I got my first semi-professional camera and started looking for a college. I graduated with a Fine Arts degree in Photography from Uzbekistan State Institute of Art & Culture, and I was excited to start my own business in a field that I’d fallen in love with. At the time, I was shooting weddings. My love for boudoir photography started from my own experience.
During my pregnancy, I gained a lot of extra weight (45 extra pounds), plus my husband’s jokes about my weight, which didn’t help. That lead me to low self-esteem, self-hate, I couldn’t look in the mirror without concentrating on my all my rolls. And from a happy, fun-loving person, I became a sad and unsatisfied woman. That mood affected every aspect of my life. Let’s face it… for women, it’s very important to feel beautiful and sexy.
One day my friend and fellow photographer invited me to his studio to get a boudoir session done. The first time he mentioned it, he told me that intimate portraiture would help me realize how beautiful and sexy I am. I literally laughed right in his face. So I went there to prove him wrong, but in reality, I was wrong. After the session and seeing my pictures, something clicked in me. I finally accepted my new body and fell in love with myself again. It was the most revealing moment of my life.
On that day, I told myself ‘that’s it… this is what I want to do for a living.’ That’s my mission, to empower women, help them reconnect with themselves again. Here I am… full-time boudoir photographer – the Boss Babe behind the camera. I help women heal their broken hearts by falling in love with themselves again.
Has it been a smooth road?
I knew it wouldn’t be an easy road when I decided to follow my husband and move to the US.
The most challenging experience was leaving my family, all of the people I loved, leaving my successful photography business and starting my business from scratch again with no proper English, no friends and no support from my husband. But at the time, I didn’t know how many great plans of God & the Universe would be in my life. God has plans for us that sometimes we don’t understand…. and we ask him ‘WHY? WHY GOD?’ But later, it turns out everything makes sense.
Now, I’m a single mom to a handsome, smart boy who is my world. I’m a successful business owner and a stronger woman. I have friends and my small family to support me. I’m proud to say that I have been able to overcome and push myself to be a better person, photographer, business owner, through what I’ve learned along my journey.
But I couldn’t be where I am now today without all those obstacles and challenges. There will always be a challenge in running a full-time boudoir photography business. There will always be some individual who doesn’t get the concept of boudoir photography, who will ask me, ‘do I shoot porn?’ 
And that’s ok. I don’t mind educating them… One thing I know for sure no matter what challenges or obstacles face my future, I will never stop helping women.

I don’t have a list of must-have shots, I follow the mood of my client and capture her in the way she imagines herself. Some may say the food. Others will say the nightlife. But to me, the thing that I love most about my city is the people. I am very proud to be surrounded by people who will do whatever it takes to help those who are in need or hurting.
The best proof of that was the day when Harvey hit us. Harvey brought our community together and showed that the strength of our community knows no bounds.
