Meet Virginia Garrigos of Young Artist Art Studio in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Virginia Garrigos.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Virginia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started loving art at the age of 4. Since I remember I always loved art, growing up In Argentina there wasn’t many choices or opportunity to do art. I travel and learned about art in different cultures and my passion for art grew more and more.

I always want it to have my own studio but It seems so difficult because in the early 80’s art wasn’t a career nor a job unless you worked in a privileged area where art was in the school budget. I worked in marketing where I could expand my creativity to clients but it wasn’t what I really want it to do, then got married and had 3 beautiful children as they grew and got involved with their school I was able to help in decorating and do props for the school plays.

Later I started working in a private school as the Fine art teacher and love it but I want it more I felt that the school did not allow them to explore their creativity how they should, I decided to go for it with the support of my husband and children and open my own art studio, after 5 1/2 years still loving my studio and very blessed of all the support and talented artist and their parents who bring them every week to learn about art.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not very smooth but the challenges and struggles along the way to be able to open my studio were accomplished, It was hard because I had never opened a business and no one believed in you that an Art school can be a business and they did not want to lease a space so it took a lot of effort to search until I found a place who believed in my passion.

Please tell us about Young Artist Art Studio.
Young Artist Art Studio is a place where children teens and adults come and explore all elements, principles, and techniques in oils, acrylic, watercolors, and drawing, we also have a pottery wheel class children and adults.
