Meet Will Cox of Will Cox Roofing in Cleveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Cox.

Will, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My father Willard Cox Sr., founded Cox Fan Manufacturing Company, located at 10766 Highway 59, Houston, Texas at Littleyork Road around 1950. I was a small boy who helped keep the shop clean and I followed my dad’s example as best I could at that early age. There is a McDonalds at that location today, along with several businesses.

From 1966 to 1970, I served in the United States Army Security Agency. After that I graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. My goal was to teach in a Christian School. That didn’t work out as I expected, so I worked for US Home Corporation for a few years, as a warranty representative for 4 home sub divisions. In 1977 we moved to Cleveland Texas and I started my business with a small ad in the local paper reading, “all your home repairs”. This year is our 4oth anniversary!

We primarily serve Liberty County and the surrounding areas as far as 50 miles from our office at 277 CR 3378, Cleveland, Texas 77327. We have an A + rating with the Better Business Bureau in Beaumont, Texas.

We do composition and metal roofing, seamless gutters, and siding.

Has it been a smooth road?
Moving to a small town, it has been a challenge becoming “known and respected”, because people don’t really trust an outsider until they prove themselves.

From 1977 to 1983, it was very hard to keep money flowing. In that year I graduated from University of Houston Police Academy and started supplementing my income by working as a police officer in Harris County, doing extra jobs. When jobs would come available in my business area, I took care of them.

In 1989, I was employed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff. That job proved to be the real kick starter for my business, because I had steady income for my family. My wife also started teaching school in Cleveland School District.

I have been very politically involved with the Republican Part since I moved here and everyone is familiar with Will Cox and our business.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Will Cox Roofing – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We install roofing both commercial and residential. We do repairs as well as whole and complete jobs. We install seamless gutters and siding.

The thing that sets us apart from others is that we always make good on our promises and warranty our work.

In the last five years, we have started installing a second roof for some of our old customers.

Signs along the highways, radio spots and newspaper and internet display our logo and remind folks that we are still available for them.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I am not in Houston, but we travel there often and what I like about Houston is the variety of places where materials can be purchased and where you can find parts for things when needed.

The traffic is very hectic.
