Meet Brenda Olivarez of www.brendaolivarez.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Olivarez

Brenda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey began when I was just four years old. I always loved everything that had to do with beauty. I began cutting hair on my Barbie dolls at years old and by the time I was in the fourth grade, I was breaking open my piggy bank to collect the money to color my hair.

In the fifth grade, I went from long hair to the Cyndi Lauper haircut. I was so extremely scared of my mother and worried about getting punished for doing things like this but my mind so creative that I could hardly contain myself. By the time I was in high school, I began my career in cosmetology in my junior year. When I graduated from high school in 1994, my journey in the beauty industry began.

I began in corporate setting salons then later moved to private salons. I later thought as my children were growing up, I would become an instructor so I attended the instructor program. With raising my boys as a single mom, I thought this would be the easiest route to go. Little did I know that I would face boredom really fast. I went to a corporate setting where in fact I began my career as a facilitator. From there the career began to flourish.

My passion to inspire and grow others became my heart and soul. Later, I began working for top brands in the industry and traveling spreading the love and knowledge to others.

Now I am a Radio Host of the “Beauty Boss” show On Mondays on Vinyl Draught Radio and have developed my own brand. I still currently do In-Salon Coaching, One on One Coaching Facilitation on Techniques and a Motivational Speaker for Women’s Events.

And now just launched my first quotable book called “Eye on the Prize”, that is available on Amazon.com. My passion has grown tremendously over the past few years to elevate women everywhere and unite the beauty community. My hopes is to acquire all to believe that we should build each other up, empower one another and truly believe in #collaborationvscompetition.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. With raising two boys on my own, along with suffering from depression and anxiety, had to face financial difficulties after my divorces, notice with an “s”, and personal family illnesses including my mother facing pancreatic cancer, the journey was a difficult one.

Please tell us about www.brendaolivarez.com.
My specialty behind the chair is hair color, especially color correction, blondes, reds and balayage’. I am a certified color specialist that strongly believes in the health and integrity of the hair. I believe in educating my client on what is best for the life of the hair. Treatments, at home maintenance and quality products behind the chair, is what sets me apart. Just like my tagline says, “If you don’t like your hair, it’s because you’re not sitting in my chair”….. – Brenda Olivarez
