Meet Xavier Morales of Proving Grounds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Morales.

Xavier, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started playing guitar around 4th grade, and it was a wrap after that. I knew I needed to do something with music. I got into audio engineering about five years ago and film about two years ago. I feel like my film work started to really speak for itself this year and a bunch of doors started opening for me. I got to meet an industry people I had admired almost my whole life and work with some that really assured me that I was doing the right thing and I just went full tunnel vision on my mission.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Between bouncing from place to place, losing everything but my music and camera gear to Harvey, and quitting my job to do what I was passionate about full time I’d say it’s been a ROUGH one haha. But when I look back at Harvey, I feel it was the best thing to happen to me because it kind of hit a restart on my life. With no car note and extra expenses, I decided to say “Hell I’m going to live my life or die trying.”

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Proving Grounds – what should we know?
I make movies. When I work on a project I’m not just trying to make another video, I’m trying to make a piece of cinema that has the ability to change someone’s life. I’ve always realized from the jump that both the artist and my name is on the line so I aim to make magic and release every project with the mindset that it can change someone else’s and my life drastically for the better. I feel that’s what separates me from others. It’s not just a hobby or something I’m just trying to get out. I’m trying to bring Houston together. To bring the small person in a scene to an international level so they can hopefully help others one day.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’d have to say my biggest credit would have to go to my mentor/father figure Mr. Ontiveros. He’s the one I’d say taught me to be a man and go after what I feel is my calling no matter what. Oh and a big shout out to my team and Gary Vee!

Pricing:

  • Soon I’ll only be releasing videos on Proving Grounds but I’m always open to what is out there so feel free to dm me and my rates start at $750
