Today we’d like to introduce you to Xerxes Mistry.
Xerxes, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Having played in Houston’s music scene for years, I decided to join Nervous Rex in 2007. Throughout its history, the band has featured various talented members. In 2010 I was no longer just a member, but now the owner after purchasing Nervous Rex from the previous owner. In late 2013, I met my current guitarist/singer/business partner. We decided to keep Nervous Rex alive by pursuing the larger casino/corporate events avenue and hired an accomplished bassist and an amazing female lead vocalist. While the big-stage shows remain our ultimate goal, we keep our bar/nightclub performances full of energy and fresh material.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road is seldom smooth with every month being a hustle. We deal with many of the same economic factors as other businesses. Venues going out of business, downturn in the economy causing budget cuts, etc.
Nervous Rex Band – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
NERVOUS REX is a professional cover band with a large variety of music. We offer full band services with optional acoustic duo or trio performances that tailor to any situation in any venue, private or public. Every show, acoustic or electric, comes with a full production of lights and sound available to suit any budget.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me success is providing a comfortable life for myself, my band members, and our families through playing music.
