Today we’d like to introduce you to Yarely Roa.
Yarely, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Chica’s Boutique with my mother and sister. We started doing live videos on Facebook from home, showing our clothes that way. I had a full-time job that took up most of my time so I’d come home late and would immediately start our live videos that would last about 3-4 hours once we were done I’d stay up until 1-2 am finishing up all of my orders. As time went by our page started growing pretty quickly and I’d have up to 400 people watching my live videos and for me at that time was huge. I finally decided to leave my full-time job as it got harder to handle both at the same time because I wanted to completely focus on growing my boutique.
As we started to grow more, the small room where I was doing my videos wasn’t enough so once I left my job we decided to open up our store on 290. Making that decision was tough as we were all very scared and I knew I would be taking up a huge responsibility since I am the only one who works at the store from Monday all through Sunday. It was definitely a scary thing to do but now eight months later I can definitely say it has been worth all the hard work and tears I’ve shed because it hasn’t always been as easy as it may look but I’m extremely Blessed and grateful to be able to do all of this and I owe everything to both my mother and sister who also always continuously push me to be a better version of myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
There have definitely been some pretty big challenges along the way. For me, only being 21, I’ve experienced quite a few things I never imagined, which has only help me grow as a person and as a Business Woman.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
What sets me apart is my originality and how I handle my business. I’m the face of my boutique. I model all of my clothes, I take all of the online orders, I interact with all of my customers daily. I don’t have an employee; I’m the only one who takes care of everything at my store. One thing I’m very proud of is definitely my relationship with my customers. I try to be as transparent as possible and making sure my customers are happy means everything to me.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Houston. I grew up here. I’ve traveled to a few places and I honestly don’t see myself anywhere else. I love how my city always tends to come together when we need it most. #HoustonStrong
